Almost two years ago, I was admiring your vest and glad I don't have to deal with the wolf's teeth in the areas I'm doing. and now, I'm sitting here trying to make them myself, because it turned out that my area, hundreds of kilometres from transylvania, has them too. Not sure how it happened, but hey I'm glad this video exists because I'd be lost without it.

loved these videos! I've spent lots of time trying to recreate folklore clothing of Eastern Europe and it is sometimes difficult to get information so it's nice having it normalized in the sewing community!

Oh my!! I'm getting the feeling that Anna is born in the same year as ME!! Oh my gosh!! If my calculations are correct, you are born exactly 11 days before myself. Wow!! I didn't realize I could love you more than I already do, but I do! 😄🥰❤ Loving greetings from Canada From a girl who discovered you because my boyfriend has made me fall in love with not just him, but his Hungarian folk culture! 😄❤💐 I have abandoned pinterest in favour of your videos... oh, the fashion! 😍

Wanted to pass on the adoration of your H. H. homage, I just adore the show, and also watching your channel too, you really make me smile. I'm two days off my 6th decade, it's just a number; I think I stopped aging (mentally) at 17 lol. You have a wonderful presence, and personality. Make historical clothing and corsetry, but have always wanted to try folk costume (Swedish heritage, so would like to try and delve into that history) You're very talented, and make an informative and fun video. Brilliant stuff.

Hi! ~ I really enjoyed watching your videos. ^^ I'm romanian born in Sibiu and i remember i wore as a child traditional costume that in my village it was just black and white. Sometimes with red threads. But, although it looked a little different from yours and had no specific meaning,(-I'm actually not that sure-), it's nice to discover that we do have in common so many details, the black velvet, the beads and lots of sequins, patterns.etc It's amazing how creative people are.

A very late happy birthday, Anna. Relax the third decade isn't bad, come to think of it neither is the forth. And the fifth? Well being still in it, I can say it is okay up to now 😉 Your video really brightened up my day and I decided I need some clothing with wolvesteeth and sequins...

Thank you! I bet it will all be great ✨ As for wolf's teeth - they may require some extra thought and work before they can make it on to your attire... sequins however creep on to anything anytime (almost) before you even notice ✨✨✨😁

Amazing! It's so neat to see how different folk costumes are similar (and different). I recently finished my Norwegian folk costume and it has bands I wove by hand in almost all of the places you mentioned velvet ribbon being used. Seeing you in your vest definitely makes me think I should make some folk clothing pieces to use in my everyday wardrobe. I love my bunad but I can't be bothered to take care of the wool and linen on a regular basis lol

So awesome! Norwegian costumes are so gorgeous! I had the good fortune to spend a few days in Oslo once, and drool over all the folk/history museum exhibits ✨ As for folk clothing for everyday, I can only encourage it! Happy birthday. I love your finished vest. Since you are interested in folk costumes, some knitting designers that I also follow on KZbin, Arne&Carlos, are making Norwegian folk costumes. First, a tad late but happy Bday. Second, while the "value" of a person still tends to depend on their visible items/purchases in many areas and in most economic status there's a lot that has actually changed. For example, in most societies women are no longer by rule declared a commodity or owned by their families or husbands, you can find a partner instead of a husband and not necessarily at church and not necessarily attracting them with as many jewelries as you can possibly add to your outfit. While your wardrobe it's still determined most of the time by your age the range in which one can play around to dress is much wider than before and it's not based on their ability to reproduce or pay for a wife. Finally, the amount and variety of activities and jobs has changed the style and fabrics we use to dress on a day to day basis as well as what we could consider a "sunday's best", also mass production.

about the same garment wore over long period of time, coming from northern slovakia, the vests were made/cut/constructed bit wider with shoulder straps a bit longer, and be fitted just for the time and still could accommodate changes of women's body during her life. maybe it was similar at south of Hungaria as well? i see that we had almost the same costumes. even with the beads and the sequins. but our region was clearly not rich nor boogie enough to afford velvet. also, i really enjoy your singing!
@PrettyShepherd4 жыл бұрын
Very true! They would sometime put all the decorations on the front, back, straps, etc. and sew it together after, just to be able to expand it if necessary. In Hungary they would also sometimes lace the front with ribbon, to accommodate for growth 🌿 Slovakian garments are fabulous! (Granted, I am more familiar with the southern ones, closer to Hungary)
@selenka264 жыл бұрын
@@PrettyShepherd yeah, exactly, we have the ribbons in the front and the back as well. and once you know a bit more, you can even tell village just by their costumes. i come from Spiš region where good, fruitful, lands are scarce, while regions such as Tekov crazy rich costumes with crazy boogie decorations. especially if you put word "kroj" instead of folk costume. you can literally see the character of the region changing just by the costumes! i find it absolutely fascinating! so great job on presenting these bits of rural life of central european folks here on youtube

Gesta Hungarorum about Transilvania : "It simply came to our notice then And, remaining here longer, Tuhutum, Horca's father, as he was a cunning man, after learning from the inhabitants of the goodness of the country beyond the forests, where the reign had a certain Blac Gelou, began to sigh. , if he could not somehow gain by a favor from Duke Arpad, the country beyond the forests, for himself and his descendants. Which is exactly what happened next. For the Ultrasilvan country was ruled by the descendants of Tuhutum until the time of King Stephen the Holy and would have ruled it further, if Gyla the Little had received and become a Christian, along with his two sons Biuia and Bucna and he would not always have worked against the holy king, as will be shown hereafter. About Tuhutum's provision And the aforesaid Tuhutum, a very prudent man, sent a cunning man, Ocmand, the father of Opaforcus, to secretly inquire about the quality and fertility of the land in Ultrasylvania and what kind of people the inhabitants there and if it were possible to make war on them. For Tuhutum wanted to gain both name and land, as our fiddlers say: they all gained land and got a good name. What should I say next? When Father Ogmand, the spy of Tuhutum, circling like a fox, saw, as far as he could comprehend the sight of man, the goodness and fruitfulness of the earth and its inhabitants, he liked it exceedingly, and in the greatest haste returned to and when he arrived, he told his lord much about the goodness of that land: that that land is watered by the best rivers, whose name and use he reminded them in turn, that from their sand gold is gathered, that the gold of that country is the best gold, because salt and salt are extracted from it, and that the inhabitants of that country are the most needy people in the whole world. Because there are Blachi and Slaves who have no weapons other than bows and arrows and their Duke Gelou is a little steadfast and has no good soldiers around him and would not dare to resist the courage of the Hungarians, because he suffers many shortcomings from the Cumans and the Pechenegs. .
