Juicy Dragon fruit harvest to a magnificent Dessert & Mocktail from it's outer peel | Traditional Me

When we were children, this wonderful tropical Dragon fruit didn't exist in Sri Lanka and of course in the world. But soon after it was introduced to Sri Lanka recently, it became so well-known and adored by all. In our hamlet, the dragon fruit is a highly popular fruit. Brother Thusitha has a sizable dragon fruit farm not far from our home. Actually, he invited me to visit and gather whatever I choose because the current dragon fruit harvest was thriving and prosperous. Anyone who looked at them would find it attractive because they resembled gorgeous red balloons and were also plumped. This time, Brother Thusitha grew a different variety with white flesh in bit of pink in outer layer.
I had never previously made jam with dragon fruit. In contrast to the previous jam I produced from various other fruits, I suddenly observed while creating the jam that its tint was pale. I unexpectedly noticed the blue butterfly pea blossoms that were looking at me in vase, like they asking me to put them in the jam, so it was just a coincidence. The brilliant peacock blue colour of the jam was created when the lovely blue of the blue butterfly pea flower was blended with the yellow tint of the jam. When compared to other jams, it'd bit of slimy and even the texture of this dragon fruit jam was quite unique, and the colour was further accentuated by the dragon fruit seeds.
Our Brother took a long time to prepare one of his mocktails as I was making the jam. I cautiously moved over to that side to check why he was taking so long to bring the drink. I was enthralled to see that he had put a lot of time and work into slicing the dragon fruits and the yellow water melon(honey melon) into incredibly little bits, and his beverage was stunning with an arresting rose colour. I was quite intrigued about how he achieved this brilliant shade, and he responded by explaining that he boiled lemon and dragon fruit skins to produce a stunning rose hue. His beverage was also incredibly tasty and reviving.
I had the idea to add some dragon fruit jam to an entirely different dish to make it unique and international. I obtained some imported fruits through Uncle Siriwardena from Negombo as my ingredients for this new international dessert. When I looking the dessert that I had made it by incorporating plums and red and black grapes, I was filled with joy and satisfaction. I was overcome with joy when I heard my Brother's sincere remarks about how good the dessert was. Of course, I kept my inside happiness hidden from him as knowing my brother, he could refrain from complimenting any of my other delectable dishes in the future, thinking that I will be proud of his constant compliments.

Watch all videos - kzbin.info/aero/PLmz2QxbXLPGQaN9z12hwoxxqQz4YvIf87 English description is in the description box | මේ ඩ්‍රැගන්ෆෘට් අපි පොඩි කාලෙ ලංකාවෙ තිබුන පළතුරක් නෙවයි. හැබැයි ලංකාවට ඇවිත් බොහොම පොඩි කාලෙකදි හැමෝම ආස කරන පළතුරක් වුනා. අපේ ගම් පළාතෙත් ඩ්‍රැගන්ෆෘට් හොඳටම වැවෙනව. තුසිත අයිය තමයි අපේ ගෙවල් කිට්ටුව හොඳටම ඩ්‍රැගන්ෆෘට් වවන්නෙ. මට කීප දවසක්ම මගින් මගටම කිව්ව මේ පාර ගොඩක් අස්වැන්න තියෙනව, ඇවිත් කඩාගෙනම යන්න කියල. හොඳ සරුවට බැලුම් වගේ පිම්බිලා හැදුන ඩ්‍රැගන්ෆෘට් ගෙඩි දැක්කම ආසාවෙ බෑ. මේ පාර වවල තියෙන්නෙ ඇතුල සුදු පාට ඩ්‍රැගන්ෆෘට්. මම ඩ්‍රැගන්ෆෘට් වලින් ජෑම් එකක් හදපු පලවෙනි වතාව මේ. ජෑම් එක හැදීගෙන එද්දි තමයි දැක්කෙ වෙනදට අනිත් පළතුරු වලින් ජෑම් හදද්දි වගේ ඩ්‍රැගන්ෆෘට් ජෑම් එකේ පාටක් මතුවෙන්නෙ නැනෙ කියල. හොඳ වෙලාවට ⁣මල පෝච්ච්යට දාපු නිල් කටරොළු මල් දැක්කෙ. නිල්කටරොළු පාට ජෑම් එකේ කහ පාටට එකතු උනාම ලස්සන මොණර නිල් (peocock blue) පාටක් ඩ්‍රැගන්ෆෘට් ජෑම් එකට එකතුවුනා. ඩ්‍රැගන්ෆෘට් ඇට වලිනුත් අමුතුම අලංකාරයක් එකතු වෙනව වගේම ඩ්‍රැගන්ෆෘට් වල ස්වභාවය නිසා අනිත් ජෑම් වලට වඩා පෙනුමත් හරිම වෙනස්. මං ජෑම් එක හදන අතරතුරේ මල්ලි පුදූම වෙලාවක් අරාගන බීම එකක් හැදුවා. ජෑම් එක හදනකම්ම බීම එක අරන් ආවෙ නැති නිසා මාත් ගියා ඒ පැත්තට බලන්න. සැහෙන්න මහන්සිවෙලා බීම හදල තිබුනා. ඩ්‍රැගන්ෆෘට් චූටියට කෑලි කපල කහ කොමඩුත් චූටියට කෑලි කපල ලස්සන රෝස පාටකට බීම එක හදල තිබුන. පාට ගැන ඇහුවමයි කිව්වෙ ඩ්‍රැගන්ෆෘට් ලෙලියි ලෙමන් පොතුයි තම්බලයි ඒ ලස්සන පාට අරගත්තෙ කියල, මල්ලිගෙ බීම එක නම් පංකාදු පහයි. ඩ්‍රැගන්ෆෘට් ජෑම් එකත් දාල ටිකක් වෙනස් විදියකට පිටරට කෑමක් හදන්න ඕන කියල හිතුණු නිසා මම ඒකට ඕන කරන රට පළතුරු ටිකක් සිරිවර්ධන මාමට කියල මීගමුවෙන් ගෙන්න ගත්තා. ප්ලම්, කලු රතු පාට දෙකෙන් මිදි, ඩ්‍රැගන්ෆෘට් එකතු කරල, හැඩ කරල මම ම හදපු ටාර්ට් එක මටම මොකද්දො මහ ලොකු හැඟීමක් ඇති කලා. මල්ලි කන ගමන් ඒක රසයි අක්කෙ කියල කිව්වම මට ඒ හැඟීම ලොකුම ලොකු සතුටකට පෙරලුනා. හැබැයි මං ඒ වගක් පෙන්නන්න ගියෙ නෑ, මොකද කෑම රසයි කිව්වම මම උඩ යයි කියල මේ හාදයා අනිත් දවස් වලටත් රස කෑමකට හරිම රසයි කියල නොකිය ඉන්නත් තියෙනවනේ, ඒකයි. ආදරයෙන් නදී 💜️💙💜️
