JJ looks like one of those 'Tatum in waiting' type SF/PFs who is held back by a couple gunners before people realize he's the best player on the team (also see: Danny Granger/Paul George). Seriously. He's averaging 14 and 8 on .594 FG and .408 from 3, plus a steal and a block on defense (nobody gets one of each of those stats without being involved on defense). If you gave him 20 shots right now he'd be a 30 point scorer that still scored efficiently, I think.

The ONLY thing he is better at than Luka is assists, and that's only by one per game. Luka averages six more points on way more efficiency, oh and Luka is just the better shooter end of discussion. Theres not even a debate. I love Trae, and I don't think he deserves any hate. However, he's not at Lukas level now, or at any point in their careers so far.

Trae's trajectory seems like Dame Lillard's to me. Dame always went through streaks where you forgot he was a superstar at the start of a season, only to catch fire for like 12 games in the middle that he rides to the end. Dame was just as inconsistent in his early 20s, too. He didn't become the 46/40/90 version of himself until like year 7.

I’m going to be as honest as possible without being disrespectful to Trae, this 2015-2018 James Harden ball he plays, high screen and roll, lob to the big, key or 3 ball is old and tired, the only people who can run that offense to a championship level is called Lebron freaking James, or Luka Doncic, little tiny guards can’t run that, and it be the main focus of the O and win a chip, he needs a system like OKC, or GS/ SAC type of system so his game can flourish, and he only pulls out that style when is needed in late game situations. Not that being the total offense.
