just wondering if you've compared the 1.5 pro deep research to the currently free 2.0 flash experimental (with grounding turned on to enable search)... the list of sites returned looks a lot more complete on the 1.5 pro you showed, but the resulting pillar document still turns out pretty good on v2 from my quick test, also seems to give a bit more suggestions on how to approach it. Either way, looks good... can combine with notetabLM to maybe get multiple pieces of content out of it too maybe?
@ciarandoyletraining27 күн бұрын
Great question! Honestly, I haven’t compared 1.5 Pro Deep Research with 2.0 Flash Experimental (grounding turned on) in-depth yet, but now you’ve got me super curious. Sounds like 1.5 Pro nails it with a more complete list of sources, while 2.0 might throw in some extra brainstorming sauce for structuring content. Combining either with NoteTabLM to crank out multiple pieces of content? Smart. That’s the kind of workflow hack I love. Thanks for the tip... this definitely deserves a follow-up video to dig into the differences.

Great info. I tried this and it created some great content but when I asked it to analyze a website it stated that it doesn't have access to the internet. But when it created the content it stated that it researched 23 websites????
@ciarandoyletraining20 күн бұрын
Great question... and it comes down to what might be considered "ethical scraping" lol... yep, I know funny. Gemini Deep Research has advanced pretraining on public data but is intentionally restricted from real-time internet scraping to maintain ethical use and align with privacy guidelines.

Except Google doesn't want the "ultimate go to content in any topic" anymore. At least in home and garden. None of this shit is ranking. I'm busting up and/or shortening all of my pillar content that DID used to dominate and compete against DotDash Meredith and the others. They now want bite sized and snackible versions. Crafting ultimate guides written by subject matter experts used to be my bread and butter. Now? My biggest site went from 5 million sessions in my best month (May) in 2023 to 1.1 million sessions in May of 24. My supporting content still gets traffic. Pillars stuff? It's dead....at least those 5000 word monstrosities. My limit is 3000 words (shorter is better) and that's still double of the publishing corps. We'll see how it does there once we complete our overhaul. We're also constraining ads. Greatly.
@ciarandoyletraining27 күн бұрын
Totally get where you’re coming from. Google’s shifting preferences have been a pain in the ass, especially for those of us who’ve relied on pillar content in the past. I’ve noticed shorter, 'snackable' content performing better in certain niches too, but I think it’s about striking a balance, which I think we are all trying to do now. Pillar content still has value, especially when it’s broken into digestible sections or paired with strong supporting content. I also don't believe in solely relying on Google for traffic, even though it is the bread and butter for so many. The key now seems to be making it easy for users to skim while still providing depth where needed. Your results from the overhaul will be super interesting to see. Please keep us updated here. That drop hurts... but it’s clear you’re not giving up, just adapting. Thanks for sharing your experience, it adds a super important perspective!
