It will work with any serial monitor software, usually on baud 9600. VS Code, Putty, UBlox Control Center etc all have serial console.

mine is not even turn on (the led), when i said the modul is broken, the store owner tell me i'm stupid. what an idiot owner. she is bragging proud of Chinese products, which is low quality product, she's bragging ITB student and had no complaints. stupid store owner. her product is broken. she naively said all of her product nothing is broken. what a naive said.

Hi there, I saw you from other vids, like in milliohms vid. I am also experiencing LED not lighting up, but I can see data through the serial monitor albeit it is incomplete nmea sentences. Were you able to fix yours?

Nice find! I too have a few neom8n gps here (BN180,BN220,BN880), for quad use. All purchases from banggood. I also wish to check mine.just to be sure its m8n. What software are you using on PC?

Hi microwavemont, I also bought an ublox via ebay and simply used an Arduino Uno as a monitor to display the serial data and then selected the serial monitor in the Arduino program. RX/TX/5V/GND can be connected directly to the UNO. You just have to set the correct baud rate, which in my case was 38900bd. Then you can read the plain text. I didn't know that you could read the data from the chip. Thanks for the tip.

Hope they do what's right, although when I had a similar issue it was just easier to toss it and move to a different source than to get any help.

What functions was the Chinese model not able to perform? I understand that it was not the product you were hoping for, but for the reduced price, did it have any functional defects that made it inferior to the Swiss model?

You can't configure any of the settings when trying to tailor the GPS to your needs ultimately rendering the board useless. It won't even show up on the com ports when you try to configure it.

You can't use the vast majority of features that ublox proides with u-center software / ubx communication protocol. Say you want to change the PPS frequency, you can't. Or do a location survey, you can't. Receive galileo sateliites, you can't. etc etc.

When buying from China at a very low price it is best to assume you will be getting a fake or a clone. I've been buying cloned stuff for years and, since I know it's cloned, I'm rarely disappointed. If you're not happy with this - don't buy from China.

If I buy in china i buy on AliExpress. our always get a refund when the chip does not work or is fake. Very often breakout Boards are only available in china. There is no alternative and it's kinda frustrating

it's easy for them to update firmware so it reports it as uBlox. what are you going to do then?

Indeed, the problem is not just firmware response. The function of uBlox is not implemented by Chinese fake (completely another product). This is really fatal issue.

In those days (5 to 6 years ago ) I made high precision 10 MHz DCO controlled by GPS but Chinese fake does not implement the function required for this purpose.

I believe I also accidentally bought fake one( Neom6v2). Led doesn't light up when there is connection even though there is data coming in. I also have to connect tx to tx and rx to rx instead of cross wiring. One time I got lucky that I got full gps location data from it. Since then I've never able to get data again.

If you haven't, try an active antenna. Common ones are small little black plastic box with SMA connector. They will work much better than any passive ceramic antenna. Make sure the connectors are right or you get needed adapter cable if necessary (SMA -> uFL). The passive ceramic antennas, tend to work only if you are directly outside with clear view of sky.

Chinese fake does not support time pulse configuration, which is the key function of mine. In any reason, if a company sells an item named "A", it should be "A" right? (Do you accept ordering Honda, and delivered Hyundai?)

I have a small problem. I need to use components that are compatible with Arduino. A position sensor (so I use a GPS module. This GPS module must be Adafruit Ultimate GPS Data Acquisition Module (GPS Included)). A position storage (with an SD card that must work with an SPI link). A bluetooth interface. A IHM to visualize the route (using an Android tablet that is compatible with a bluetooth module). you can advise me to use what as a component . because it's 3 components must be compatible with Arduino and an Android tablet IHM thanks to a Bluetooth module.

those are all readily available components, just about any will work. but GPS typically has a resolution of about a few feet, whereas Bluetooth sometimes has a range of only 50 feet or so. still, start by getting the components working one at a time, then combine the functioning parts of the programs into one program.

Just applying VDD, all of GPS modules will send the message through UART, as default operation. So we don't need any software, just terminal software supporting serial console.

Actually, the gps neo 6 is not that sensitive; that means that it can't capture the gps signal indoor. but it works fine outside.

Forget the ATGM336, especially for timing uses. This piece of s**t sends its GxRMC sentence almost at the END of the NMEA stream. Most of high quality GNSS receivers sent their RMC at the beginning of their NMEA data stream... Result: at the beginning, everything is okay with the ATGM, but the RMC's end is only at 125ms before the next UTC second... ...and as the constellations (Navstar and BeiDou) get more and more populated, the whole NMEA stream gets longer having the RMC lagging to finally have it OVERLAP the next UTC second !!!! STUPID !!!! And docs about 336 configuration are so .... inexistent !! Stay with Ublox !!!!
