Great idea Tory. You can do light cutting around fence posts too. Can you use the thumb to move larger brush or fallen trees?

I never thought about using the thumb while using this attachment but I bet you could. The only thing I would worry about is beating up the trimmer head as you moved the rake closer to the thumb to grab an object. I would also have to remove the trimmer engagement cable from the thumb to do this. I use the thumb function to turn the trimmer on and off. Not a bad idea and thanks for your comment.

The more I look at this setup, the more I like it. Would you be interested in doing a video with a close-up view showing and describing the connections to the rake and any other aspects of your modification you think are important. Are the main "connectors" shock absorbers? Really, a wonderful idea and fabrication, especially for smaller excavators where the available flail mowers are too heavy and require higher hydraulic pressures.

I'll work it into a future video. Keep in mind this is only a prototype in need of many refinements but it does work.

Hi Tory..... been a while but hope all is well. I am TOTALLY interested in doing this..... was there every another video posted after this? I absolutely need to get more info...... I have about 800 feet of stream bank, about 4 feet down on around a 30 to 45 degree slope..... this would be a perfect application I believe. Would love to fabricate something like this JUST using the quick attach.... not the rake. would love to see any follow up videos or more feedback! Thanks!!!!

I believe I have three videos of this DR weed trimmer being used on my Groundhog. It works pretty good but I haven't used it recently. Good luck with your's.

You should like that one. Our river bank gets covered in Japanese river weed which gets about 10 feet tall and reminds me of bamboo.
