Trail running with DJI Neo, first run

Took DJI Neo for a run on trails in Helsinki Central Park. It's really fun to run with and it's really impressive at how well it followed me even on a really narrow trail through lots of obstacles it could hit. It flew straight into a branch only once and even then recovered and continued following.

I wanted a drone like this for years. Maybe you remember the AirDog drone. But that was so large and cumbersome. And I've not had good results with some other DJI drones for tracking; they lost me very quickly. Neo is amazing at this. At first, I was hesitant about getting it too, but already with the first run was amazed at how good it is at following the subject and that it managed to avoid pretty much everything. And all that without obstacle avoidance. I'm really looking forward to shooting some fun footage on my runs with this. And yea, thanks for feedback, glad you enjoyed the video.

Nice one. Look forward to more running videos using the other modes particularly Custom Direction Track I would say. I've posted a few but using Hover X1.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm yet to try the direction track and will post when I try that mode. Could be interesting, particularly through tight forest trails. From your videos it looks like the Hover X1 is doing pretty good job at tracking from both directions. It was one of the drones I was considering getting too, but then picked the Neo.

@@bustedsoles6797 the Hover x1 seems to have increased in price quite a lot. The DJI Neo is far cheaper.

I see. Yea, part of the appeal of Neo is, of course, the price.

To bad it doesn't get more of your feet hitting the ground. A little too high.

Yeah, I agree it could fly either just a little bit lower or further behind me. There are three options for the distance that you can adjust in the DJI Fly app. The default is medium and that's what I used here (the app says that in this mode the drone will capture the entire body, but apparently not quite). I'll try out different settings and see if I can come up with something that gets best video results but also keeps the drone from hitting the branches on such trails.
