I love mine. It replaces a traditional mid layer. I have heard this type of Jacket described as ‘active insulation’. I like the new elasticated strip because it allows me to dump heat when I am going for it and it improves the fit. Enjoyed this video.

Hi Ian ☺️ glad you liked the review 👍🏻 it’s a great jacket and one I rate highly 😊 like the term ‘active I insulation’, sums it up well. Enjoy your outdoors time, Andy 🏔⛺️

Hi Andy, if you get the time - what are the glasses/goggles you're wearing at 6:25? They look the business. Cheers.

Hi- they are unbranded- I got them on eBay six years ago for that Alps trip 🤔 I lost my previous ones and they where a quick buy but turned out to be excellent 👌 strong polarisation and the shields work 👍🏻 a lucky buy really as they could have been naff ☺️ Enjoy your outdoors time, Andy 🏔️🌳🌀

@@WildcraftBritain Thanks Andy. A lucky purchase then. We've all had items that turn out to be unexpectedly great.

Thanks for the nice review, too bad I cannot find this model in Amazon here un México, no much Rab products to be exact, oh well. Keep these cool reviews coming!, Saludos!

Hi Ismael ☺️ glad you like the review- we have plenty more in the pipeline 👍🏻 Rab is a U.K. brand and is not as well distributed as some 🤔 Enjoy your outdoors time, Andy 🏔⛺️

Wondering whether to go plain cirrus or flex. Can get them around same price in sales
@WildcraftBritain Жыл бұрын
All depends on what you intend to use it for- the flex is “active insulation” as the panels add breathability to the jacket but reduces the insulation- but the standard Cirrus is more insulting but will trap more perspiration on the go 🤔 hope that helps ☺️ enjoy your outdoors time, Andy 🌲🏕️🌀

How does this compare to Columbia Powder Pass insulated jacket? Very similar
@WildcraftBritain Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply, I missed the comment ☺️ I don’t know as I have very little experience with Columbia and it’s not a jacket I know 🤔☺️🌀

Do you rate this better than a fleece? Was thinking a fleece would be more breathable?
@WildcraftBritain2 жыл бұрын
Much depends on the fleece 😄 some soft shells are super insulating but then suffer from a much reduced moisture transfer rate 😅 a more traditional open fibre technical fleece would certainly be more breathable, (but we are talking good quality here, some fleece material can be very sweaty 🥵), but they will lack the warmth of the Cirrus 🤔 that’s what makes the Cirrus a good concept, combining the advantages of the insulation with the breathability of good fleece where you need it 😊 Enjoy your outdoors time, Andy 🏔⛺️🌀

Thank you for the helpful review. I have been looking at the Paramo Enduro fleece as a mid-later, which I have also seen on your review and just wondered how you would compare it with the Rab Cirrus Flex 2 - do they each serve a different purpose or would you recommend one over the other?
@WildcraftBritain2 жыл бұрын
Glad you found them useful Stephen ☺️ arguably they are in the same category, what someone recently reminded me is called “active insulation”- but the Cirrus Flex is towards the top in insulation terms, where the Enduro is towards the bottom, (again in insulation terms). The Enduro is far harder wearing, the Cirrus is more an under layer for scrambling/climbing, but both are well constructed, (though I would say the Paramo has the edge here and especially where ethics are concerned, though both have good credentials)- ultimately I would not recommend one above the other and while they are similar they also have points of significant difference 😊 I would advise looking at what niche you need filling the most and go from there 👍🏻 hope that helps, enjoy your outdoors time 🏔🏕🌀

@@WildcraftBritain Thanks that is very useful. My main focus is to get a decent mid-layer for hiking in the mountains, so perhaps the Enduro fleece may be the best option, but the Cirrus Flex may be a good backup for more colder/wintry conditions.

I have several older down products, never understand why in these environmentally aware times that the down cannot be reused in a new shell ?
@WildcraftBritain2 жыл бұрын
All Rabs down range now uses 100% recycled down and they have a recycling facility for old gear 👍🏻 they use recycled plastic in their shells to 😊 Enjoy your outdoor time, Andy 🏔⛺️🌀

I'm deciding between Rab Cirrus Flex 2.0 and Montane Phoenix Stretch. If you were me, which one would you choose and why?
@WildcraftBritain2 жыл бұрын
Hi, sadly, since I’ve never looked at the Montane Phoenix, I’m not in a position to comment with any authority ☺️ I rate the Cirrus range and like the recycling aspect which has not impacted on its performance, which again I rate highly 😊 sorry I couldn’t be more help 😄 enjoy your outdoors time, Andy 🏔🏕🌀

Hi there I was just wondering I am going to use this jacket in temperatures around the 10 degrees Celsius and up range. But also do you think this jacket is durable enough to handle daily use with a bag pack on?
@Mrpoo8052 жыл бұрын
Also with this jacket it’s out of this jacket or the rab power stretch jacket for just wearing it on its own in temperatures around 10 degrees Celsius and a bit higher. What do you think?
@WildcraftBritain2 жыл бұрын
Hi, plenty to unpack here ☺️ I would say, (for myself), that for backpacking above 10 C I would cook waring the jacket 🥵 It would be a potential take for a camp/long stop layer though. The jacket would not put up with direct contact of a heavy bag, but should handle a day pack ok but its not its primary purpose 🤔 there's a lot a variables here, terrain, speed etc. Paring it with a good durable windproof such as the Paramo Enduro Windproof may well give it better flexibility and durability on longer days with heavier packs. The power stretch looks like a good jacket, but its one I don't know- again, I would be a little worried about it taking a pack in the long term, (but it could be fine), and again a good windproof would extend its functionality and durability 👍🏻 Enjoy your outdoors time, Andy 🏕⛰🌞

what the bloody hell are you doing with that dog that close to the cliff
@WildcraftBritain3 ай бұрын
Do you mean Buzz towards the start of the video? Buzz was a well trained mountain dog, great route finder and bombproof when the weather turned ☺️ He’s retired now and spends his time in the local woods and hedgerows 😊 I’m training up a new dog, Cap, will see what he’s like when he gets in the hills- first impressions are very positive but you can’t tell until you go up a hight trail 🤔- Mowgly, our now passed collie had no mountain sense and never came on the hills 🐾 😕 he is sadly missed 😔 there’s a long tradition of dogs in mountains 🏔️ 😊 MRT has its own dog arm, who are deployed in mountains all the time 🐶🙌🏻 roads and idiots in urban environments are far more risk to dogs then well trained proven outdoors dogs in mountains 😉 Enjoy your outdoors time 🧗🚵🏻♂️🏕️🌀
