I was signed into my other account... Thanks for the view of the dump valve...shows exactly how it works. Last year I threw away a bunch of old DC actuator motors. Could have used them to take the weight off the rear axle of my big tex. DANG! I hate making sharp turns with it...like when I enter or leave my driveway and have to park right there to open / close my gate (Lightning got my mighty mule gate opener). The trailer tires tears up the grass next to my driveway. Of course, there's tight turns at shippers and receivers that makes me cringe...one day I'm going to pop a bead. And thanks for showing me the weigh station where I got my last level 1...

When you strap down pallets put your strap over the cross tie on the pallet that way you're pushing on the cross tie and not the surface

When doing brake Chambers make sure you get the stroke right, if the Port where the air hose goes into the chamber is round it is a short stroke, if the port is square it is a long-stroke chamber just something to think about. Good job I replace all my Chambers every 5 years I write the date on them when I replace them

the brake valve sometimes this works for me get a can of wd40 spray down the red side push the button in and it will send it to the valve and lubricate the orings

@@hotshot0076 95% of toll roads charge by the axle, not the weight. When you dump the air, that weight is just transferred to the front axle and does not change you gross weight. You would have to try and dump it after the front axle has already been weighed. Good luck with that.

Dog leg trailer is a adjustment problem one axil stationary left or right side mostly driver side the other has adjustable bar you measured stationary side driver side then adjust other side to stationary measurement

Trailers require automatic slack adjusters since 1995. Someone swapped those for manual. Sharp DOT inspector could put trailer out of service because of that.

From the video it looks to be that slotted bracket was for a Haldex brand automatic adjuster. There would of been a pin attached to the adjuster that traveled in that slot. My guess would be that the automatic ones weren't maintaining adjustment and they did a cheap repair. They depend on all the other brake parts to do their job. Worn camshaft bushings\camshafts are big contributors. Sloppy fit. The basic rule is if automatic slack needs to be adjusted...it has failed internally or some other part is worn out. The only time automatic is to be adjusted is at initial install or any brake work. Unfortunately those new brake chambers will have to be replaced when installing automatics...threaded rod too short. Personally I would buy chambers and all brake parts at a truck or trailer dealership or parts store that are selling quality brand name components. Upfront cheap price can get very expensive in the long term. One of my small engine customers is retired Fed that wrote the law concerning automatic slacks. When he found out I had trucked for 40 years...he asked me how often I adjusted them..."never between initial install and brake job"...he said very few gave that correct answer, even full time mechanics. Defective\out of adjustment brakes are always issues...accidents\inspections. Safety is paramount...lot of people are depending on you...not only your family, everyone around you.

If I was loading this trailer I put the strap in the center of the pallet Over the center support of the pallets if you look it solid all the way down. The hard part is getting the strap in that spot. If is not easy. Just a thought for next time you load something You doing a good job tie down you loads. @@SouthGeorgiaHotShot it’s on the back. After reading a couple of posts on line, and watching your video again, I see some things I need to correct. First of all, I have the wrong solenoid. I have single port in/ single port out normally closed when I should have a 3 port normally open valve. I also need to connect to the other air line going to the rear air bags instead of where I have now, between the 2 rear bags. Live-n-Learn / Trial and error. Thanks for your video… I can’t wait to get this working.

Im impressed at some of his work; seems to know his stuff. I added the dump valve to the list. I’ll let you know how it turns out.

@@SouthGeorgiaHotShot ok he wasn’t able to look at the dump valve; just didn’t have the time. But I moved the valve from between the bags to the line feeding the rear bags. I think it’s working (a little). The rear bags deflate but not all the way while the front bags didn’t. If I can block the the flow from the leveling valve while I have the dump open, I believe the rear bags will deflate more. I spun around in the parking lot and it appeared to pivot on the front axel, but I need to test it more, preferably in a dirt or gravel lot.

Your going to love that dump valve. Just be sure to reinflate after you finish turning. We run a beeper on ours when in use. I don't always use it on a tall load, especially if hauling PVC pipe.

In short. His spread axles switch pivot points as you back up. (As roads never level). So he turns and front axle (just talking trailer) is pivot, but as he backs the truck drivers hit a mild incline. Pivot point changed to rear axle. (Entire time non pivot axle is scrubbing ground, flexing, wearing)…. So the axle dump makes front designated pivot point 100% on any but really bad potholes. ;) Backing becomes similar to dry van, w/axles slid forward.. and constant. It should reduce wear, tear on rear axle. IF he could clear rear tires from pavement when empty. It could save him money on tolls (empty only) as well as wear, microscopic increase in MPG. (But better turning IF he remembers ass end will swing wide)

@@ihguy2113 automatic slack adjusters have been required for decades, so I doubt you are correct. That being the case, automatic means automatic. If your brakes are out of adjustment, the “automatic” slack adjuster is defective. The only time you should have to “adjust” your brakes is when they’ve been backed off to make a repair.
