@cmcb09 When I was a senior in high school, a classmate of mine did just that. His bedroom was in the basement, so by the time the rest of the family, all sleeping on the second floor, knew there was a fire it was beyond a dire situation (pre-smoke detectors). My classmate’s body was found propped up in his bed with a beer can in one hand and an ash tray on the bed near his other hand. It has always been assumed that he was sleeping/passed out because his ankles were crossed - as if he never even moved in an attempt to get out of bed. Obviously, the entire house and everything in it was destroyed.

Technically, the purchasers should have had insurance on the property since they were the property owners at the time of the fire. At that point, the previous owner was a tenant. (Ideally, a lease should have been drawn up.) Judy got this one wrong.

No, she didn’t deliver on the contract. She just didn’t turn it over to them on time. She wasn’t paying rent and didn’t have a lease with them. It is similar to selling a car and not giving it to the new owner and driving it.
