RIMASTO ORFANO - 2002
In Rimasto Orfano, the echo of Conjunto di NERO is heard. The research continues where NERO left off. The final image of Conjunto di NERO, Emio Greco captured in blue contours, shows the moment at which the body, overcome with doubt, chooses to abandon its quest for harmony. The physical and emotional limits have been reached. Any next step demands reflection.
Rimasto Orfano literally means 'Abandoned Orphan'. The nostalgic quest for synchronicity has no closure: the desire for a perfect unisono, for coinciding with space and time, with other dancers, for the unity of mind and body, remains an attempt to reconstruct the scattered body. It is only through meditative reflection, through a silencing of the body, that new choices can be made; to stay or go; to withdraw, regroup, take a lead or to remain behind. In Rimasto Orfano the patterns evolving from this principle are subjected to external impulses. Exposed to the composition of Michael Gordon as well as the dynamics of light, the body makes its own inimitable choices. Representation, description and explanation are suspended once more.
