Check frame for cracks, visual inspection of bearings to ensure no water has gotten in them if possible. There are two types of bearings, sealed and not. The not sealed bearings need fresh grease pushed through to clear any water. I would suggest check beginning and end of season as the bearings will be under water when launching a boat. At the beginning of the season a simple wheel spin will show if any rust has occurred while stored.

Good video. Check/flush brake fluid too. When I bought our boat, seller said brakes were new and had been completely gone though.... not the case. The minute I hooked up and started towing, the thing slammed hard when I tested the surge brakes, I knew it was the dampener shock on the master that was bad( it was) and decided at that moment that I am disregarding any thing they said about maintenance ( on both boat and trailer) and did everything. I replaced everything. Master cylinder, lines( with flexible DOT rated plastic like ones), drum assemblies and bearings. I think the drums were newer, but I bought kit that had new ones anyway. End result was the sequoia pulling boat just fine, all nice and safe/smooth. Great idea mentioning the bunks. Bad ones can really wreck boat bottom. Im keeping mine outside. I am either ordering a tarp tent setup, or a shrink kit with torch to do myself. I have most of the seat cushions out, and think im having upholstery done over the winter... plus the only west end boat dealer quoted me $600+ to wrap it!!! We have 2 Mustangs that sleep inside....

I would pay to have it done, but at some point it will be getting new seat backs, as the one now have split. I was thinking Harolds on Grand, or the malibu dealer in denver( Tommys) has some guys that are good too.

I am not impressed with them in Helena. Recstation in Spearfish Has a good reputation.... but the guys in denver just work on wake boats. Its either at Tommys or through them.

Do you typically put the trailer on blocks during the winter?

I have done that a few times but since I go through tires every 2 to 3 seasons with a triple axle trailer I stopped doing it. The triple really burns through tires when turning.

For the bearings, the boatmate trailers with the vault system need to be regreased every 3 years according to the dealer. (Atleast where I live where the boat can only be used for 1/3 of the year). You can also feel them on the highway when at a gas station and if they're hot, they need to be regreased asap.
