Mini-Mater Gets A Facelift

Gathering up all the trucks and trailers from after Winter 4x4 Jamboree. Then getting the motorhome ready for Hammers. After that we decided to update the front end on Mini-Mater. The stinger was driving me crazy and I didn't like it. So we made something that fits a little tighter and can be used to push a vehicle... Or another jalopy. Haha. Dear Mike, Shawn and Rory. I love to follow you at work because you are just as you are and have my sort of humor and not at least the right level of gallows humor as we are calling it in Norway. I have always loved to work hard like you, but after I became disabled after a too high vaccine dose 3,5 years ago I have been bedridden and miss my job where we often had to drive some offroad for soil investigations, but ofcourse not as heavy offroad as you. lot of folk don't realize it. but they do make a driveshaft balance ring. Same concept as the rings truckers put on each wheel. Advantage on driveshaft is if it gets ding etc. the ring will adjust for the off balance that created..... keeping it in balance. .

I'm pretty sure I understand what Rory was saying, being almost 50 and a fine Connoisseur of 80s movies, when he said Mike had his hat backwards while driving a diesel truck, Mike had an "Over The Top" moment 😅 Great 80s Stallone movie! I grew up in a big Rig with my friend and his Truck Driver dad! And we would watch all of the Hot Rod and Trucker movies! I miss Big Bill , he was a second father to me! Over The Top Mike!

Little FYI. On Ram trucks UJoints when putting non oem joints ! The locking rings need to need sanded/ground thinner because they are like .oo3 th in thicker! Lesson i learned after replacement of all twice in one of mine, then never replace another for long time

If you don't use stuff it never breaks. When you use your vehicles as hard as you do they will break. You simply rebuild them, fix the weak links and make them even better. I like form following function. Making stuff too nice doesn't make sense if you actually use them for what they are designed to do. My vehicles are shiny and clean for the most part, still get them out and if they get scratched or seriously dirty on the trails I'm ok with that. Of course, I'm not running a recovery business or driving nearly as hard as you guys do...Rock on!

1:05 looks like the factory U-joint. They don't come with a zerk fitting so they can be greased. Right after I bought my used Dodge, I changed them out as I have seen too many factory fails. A strict maintenance schedule needs to be put in place for all of your working rigs 7:44 Did he bring the beer?

Sorry you had all those issues on your trip back from your event But at least you are able to get them worked out without too much difficulty. Getting everything back up to snuff for the next event. Hope the expense wasn't or isn't too bad. Sometime it seems that you guys are bleeding money all the time. to keep your vehicles working. New bumper on mini mater looks great and sure that lite bar will be bright enough.. shawn splitting wood made me think...with all yalls fabrication skills..why have you not made log splitter...i mean shawn is beast but im sure yall can make something that works as well.. just thought. Looking forward to more vids..and the bus with cold weather was pain im sure.. had same issue out here in Colorado (south central kinda) with semi's..if they dont have block heaters, the batteries drain fast when cranking.. was long week trying to get all started so feel your pain..ready for warmer temps..lol.
