This is the best video with the best exposure of trail surface/ scenery and best descriptions of the route and history I've ever seen about Imogene.

Yes, it is the perfect trail. Difficult but not impossible, can accommodate a number of different levels of vehicles, amazing, awe-striking sights and you leave one amazing mountain town and arrive in another no matter what direction you go. (I like T-Ride to Ouray so you finish with some water crossings)

If you like to read you should look for a book called "Tomboy Bride", written by a woman who came to Tomboy mine with her husband after he graduated from college as a mining engineer. We did Imogene many years ago in my wife's Grand Cherokee, I'm ready to do it again.

Nice video! I did Imogene a few years ago with my wife. Between an arthritic flare-up in my right shoulder, the anxiety of what I didn't know about the trail, and my wife giving me vibes of anxiety as well, I did not enjoy it as much as I should/could have. We came from the Ouray side. I would like to do this trail again someday, now that I know it isn't as bad as I had anticipated. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed the adventure. Up there on the summit at 13,114 feet above sea level was fantastic. I think we spent about an hour at the summit, just enjoying the experience. Also, lunch in Telluride was pleasant. If I did it again, I would take my time at those old mining sites, as they are quite cool. Last Fall, we did Last Dollar Road. Although it was a simple trail, the Fall colors were gorgeous!!! Thanks for a great video!!!

TBH, the stress of traveling an unknown trail takes away a great deal of the enjoyment. I'm going to hit some of my Jeep Badge of Honor trails again....so i can enjoy them this time!

"Pucker Value"-:) great description!! Shelf roads this narrow with massive drop offs are definitely NOT for everyone. Know your limits or comfort level.

Great video....took Imogene for the first time August 27th, 2022 from YBB into Telluride...absolutely loved this trail....the best was the hail that came down and completely covered the ground making it look like it snowed....cant wait to come back!

I have lived in this area for years and have driven Imogene 8 times. I don't think that's over doing it but it sure is getting crowded at times these days. Glad you enjoyed it!

The mail box at 13,114ft used to look nice, but already shot up in your video. We visited Drinking Cup, Camp Bird, Yankee Boy Basin, Tomboy Townsite, view of Black Bear Pass before got to Telluride in September 2015. Still think it’s one of most casual drive in Colorado

It's not pronounced "Eye-mo-gene" Pass (long i sound) , it's Im-o-gene (or Im-uh-gene), the first syllable is like "Him" (short i sound). -- BR

At the 19:50 mark, that point you guys are out on is incredible! I'm assuming that pull off is hard to miss? Planning on going there in August and would never forgive myself if I didn't get the same shot. Any specifics you can give me about where it's at on the trail would be greatly appreciated!

Imogene Pass Rd. is closed at least for the rest of 2024 due to extensive mud slide damage. So is Black Bear Pass.

I just ran across your videos. Well done! I like the rock crawling stuff but I don't have a vehicle for that kind of thing. I'm looking forward to drive the trails that you have driven and just enjoy the sights. One thing, I wish you would say who is traveling with you, you know here's Bob in his red Jeep and George in his green Jeep. Keep up the good work!

Actually, I pretty much say who is with us in almost every video. With Imogene, there was no way to get a shot of everyone at the beginning because it is VERY narrow, so I may have forgotten to mention everyone later on.

Nice video, great to see some additional perspectives on available trails in the US. I’ve never had 4 x 4 vehicle before, and recently got a forerunner. Living in Toronto area, Canada we don’t have a lot of options that the Midwest and West Coast do. I have talk my wife into driving out west, and into the US to try out some trails. I don’t have a lot of knowledge with regards to trail etiquette for these types of trails, but one question I do have for this particular one is if it is one way, or is there a radio channel that people have to communicate on to ensure they don’t run head on into a different vehicle going in the opposite direction with no place to do a U-turn or pull off to the side?

There is no designated channels here. Some people are on CB, most are on GMRS, some are on HAM.

Someone has to backup sometimes. The rule is that the person going uphill has the right of way unless it is safe for them to back up

Hi Kerry. Great video. One of my favorite trails too. I meant to ask when we met at Mtn Expo about your drone. Which model do you use? And would you buy it again?

To be fair, I own Multicopter Warehouse in Centennial. My main drones are the DJI FPV Drone, the Autel Evo II Pro, and the DJI Mavic 2 Pro.

I would not call lit a perfect trail, anymore than I would call Cinnamon, Engineer, California Gulch, Corkscrew Gulch or any other trail in that area. But it is a nice trail as are all the others. In reality, there are just too many trails in CO and UT to designate one as perfect. Especially, since perfect is subjective. If you want to test your nerves, hit the Shafer trail in Canyonlands, Cliffhanger or Moab Rim around Moab. Or just give blackbear a pass, just down the road from Ouray. Personally, I find blackbear rather boring due to heavy traffic.
