My grandfather was 4 years old when Dumbo was released, even when I was a little boy we'd always watch the old Disney movies together especially Dumbo. He passed away 2 years ago but his memory still lives on in my heart.

One thing I’ve always wondered is what kind of whistle does CJr have? I know it’s a chime whistle, one meant for shunting engines since it’s quite shrill and hoarse. More Mixed Traffic if I’m correct since it’s deep enough for switching duties, but high enough for it to be a passenger or road engine.

actually Casey Jr is a 2-4-0 locomotive. based on the Whyte notation a 2-4-0 describes a locomotive with 2 leading wheels 4 driving wheels and no trailing wheels. and the only dome He has is called a "steam dome" and in America the object that allows smoke and exhaust exit the train is what We call a "smokestack" but many of Us call Them "stacks" for short. also the "cowcatcher" You Guys are talking about is actually called a "pilot" in the industry. The charming actress Frances Gifford! She operated the sonovox talkbox device by putting the microphone-like things of that machine on the skin of her throat. Frances moved here move and the air in her throat vibrated the skin of her front neck and the sonovox translated it to train-like sound! Frances Gifford was 20 years old at the time this movie was made (1941). I love her smile if Robert Benchley say something funny to her.

Those "microphone like things" she holds over her larynx are actually speaker discs acting like artificial vocal cords which play train whistle sounds off a record and vibrate the air inside her throat and up the vocal tract. Frances just mouthed the words and the train whistle sounds fed from the Sonovox speaker discs sound like the mouthed words.
