I was 16, working at Blockbuster (yes, the ancient video store). Anyway, we’d play video tapes of music in the store, while people shopped. I’m from Baltimore, never heard of this group and never listened to this style of music. I remember the end of the night, I was about to start cleaning up and this song started. I turned around and kind of stood there - it was the most beautiful melody I had ever heard. I fell in love. I still love this song to this day 💕💕

I still can't believe that it's been 20 years. 2001 definitely had some incredible songs. And this was one of them. And this song should've won more Grammys too. The first time I've heard this song was one summer night. It was playing on the radio and I was laying in bed with the window open. I was just a kid. I remember thinking how beautiful and amazing this song is. And now this song is always on my playlists. One of my all time favorite songs. And favorite songs of Train.

When I was a little kid I came across this song on a discarded cd. I loved it so much, It made me learn the piano so I could play it and then I sung it at my Grandma's wedding. I totally forgot about it until now, 20 years later. Most of my time since has been spent working with sound. It's safe to say that this song was a major influence on my life, listening to it now I can still feel those same emotions. What a gem, cheers Train.

When I broke free from a horrible relationship, marriage where I lost myself in - I broke away the year this song was released! I played it like it was written by me for me about me to myself and I had flown away and found myself. Oh the memories of breaking free and finding myself. I’m happily remarried for 20 years now.

I was 9 years old when this song came out. Train has always had a knack for strange yet sensible lyrics combined with incredible melodies. “Drops of Jupiter” is arguably Train’s greatest song. The gorgeous melody always hooked me as a kid and still does today. Finding out that this song was about the passing of Pat Monahan’s mother from cancer, I return to this song after the passing of my grandmother and uncle that I had just lost. Thank you Train for this emotionally impactful masterpiece.

Now that she's back in the atmosphere With drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey, hey, hey She acts like summer and walks like rain Reminds me that there's a time to change, hey, hey, hey Since the return from her stay on the moon She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey, hey, hey Hey, hey, hey But tell me, did you sail across the sun? Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded And that heaven is overrated? Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star- One without a permanent scar? And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there? Now that she's back from that soul vacation Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, hey, hey (mmm) She checks out Mozart while she does tae-bo Reminds me that there's room to grow, hey, hey, hey (yeah) Now that she's back in the atmosphere I'm afraid that she might think of me as plain ol' Jane Told a story about a man who was too afraid to fly so he never did land But tell me, did the wind sweep you off your feet? Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day And head back to the Milky Way? And tell me, did Venus blow your mind? Was it everything you wanted to find? And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there? Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken? Your best friend always sticking up for you even when I know you're wrong Can you imagine no first dance, freeze dried romance, five-hour phone conversation? The best soy latte that you ever had and me But tell me, did the wind sweep you off your feet? Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day And head back toward the Milky Way? And tell me, did you sail across the sun? Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded And that heaven is overrated? And tell me, did you fall for a shooting star One without a permanent scar? And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself? Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na And did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day? Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na And did you fall for a shooting star, fall for a shooting star? Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na And now you're lonely looking for yourself out there

It's simple. It's a song written about a girl that's "Out of this world". I saw mine in 1992. Got together in 1994. Got married in 1997. We had a baby boy in 1999 a little girl in 2002. In 2007 I lost my trucking company. She's still here. Ain't many would stay around. She's my "Drops of Jupiter" and always will be. Men are strong physically, women are stronger than that. She kept me alive when things went bad when I wanted to "check out early". We're still struggling, but we're getting there and thanks to my "Drops of Jupiter", I'm above ground to see my kids become adults. "Don't give up". Stay safe people. 🙏And as a musician, keep it up. Music makes a difference. 🥁🎙🎸❤️❤️❤️🕯

What a beautiful arrangement as well! The strings rock!! Awesome!!
@Fuzcapp
@Fuzcapp Жыл бұрын
The string arrangement is by Paul Buckmaster who was Elton John's string arranger on Elton's early albums. Paul was a cello player and his cello lines are always killer. That mid-section of the strings just always carries so much soul. The moment I heard this song on the radio I bet myself it was a Paul Buckmaster arrangement.

This song hurts, great tune and yes I like it but also remindes me of 911. I lost my uncle in the south tower of the WTC in NYC. This song was a hit the same month of September and had heavy airplay into the end of 2001. I wish I could sometimes go back in time to Sept 10th when things in life and the country were wonderful. Those born after will never know or understand what the world was like before that day.

Some of my musical inspiration comes from songs like this one. It's crazy when you think about the release of music. It just does something super special to each and every one of us. When we ask questions from the heart out into existence, the door of questions eventually opens. Especially when we keep knocking at it. Crazy isnt it?

This songs takes me way back to the good ole days. Miss the good times where does the time go? I feel like a old tractor just sitting away in a barn out in the country all old and rusty just forgotten in time rusting away...with age. Enjoy life live to the fullest and make it count because it's just too short your time card can and or could always get pulled and be called. Life's too short to be mean and miserable enjoy life today like it's your last. I miss when music was good back in the day people actually put feelings and emotions into their music the new era of music just isn't the same no more like it was back in the 2000's. R.I.P. 2000's era music.

Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded And that Heaven is overrated? And tell me, did you fall for a shooting star? One without a permanent scar, and then you miss me While you were looking for yourself? Na-na, na-na, na-na Na-na, na-na, na-na, na, na And did you finally get the chance To dance along the light of day? Na-na, na-na, na-na Na-na, na-na, na-na, na, na And did you fall for a shooting star? Fall for a shooting star? Na-na, na-na, na-na Na-na, na-na, na-na, na, na And are you lonely looking for yourself out there?

We've gone to Jupiter 2 times since this song! New Horizons and Juno! And Galileo was at Jupiter when this hit was big.

She was beautiful, smart, strong, and creative. But I loved her too much, for my love was obsessive and obscene. We were young, immature, naive. She was wiser than I in the end, and she reminded me that there’s a time to change.

It took me so long to find this, and I was so suprised when I did. I only remembered the chorus, but it was stuck in my head for so long. I was just thinking of it... I can't remember your name but thank you to the person who led me to this, thank you.
