Also, this year, at Steamtown Railfest 2015, none other than Nickel Plate Road's 2-8-4 765 will be visiting, offering an excursion from Scranton to Delaware Water Gap on the first day, and a static display the next. She will be the largest engine to operate on the D&L mainline since Milwaukee Road's 4-8-4 #261 paid a visit on Steamtown National Park Service's Grand Opening in Scranton. This will all be on September 5th and 6th, labor day weekend.

The Big Boy (which is number 4014, not 4041) wasn't operational at that point in time, and it still isn't. Not to mention the logistics of moving either of those engines the distance that would be required to get either of them to Owosso Michigan.

+David Lavine Actually, last year Blue Mountain and Reading 425 visited. The NPS gives a hoot about their locomotives. The locomotives in the railyard are, and always will be, static displays, however, Baldwin 26 (an 0-6-0,) Boston § Maine 3713 (a 4-6-2 mainline passenger pacific,) Canadian Pacific 2317 (another 4-6-2 mainline passenger pacific,) and most likely Canadian National 3254 (a 2-8-2 mainline freight/passenger Mikado) will be operational for Steamtown in the next few years. That's not counting rumored plans to restore NKP 2-8-4 #759 or Reading Railroad's 4-8-4 sitting over there. In addition to these locomotives, there are also several diesels at Steamtown. Plus, with the weight of K4 1361 off of Steamtown's shoulders, restoration may begin going smoother. Oh, and, quick reminder, Steamtown doesn't willfully decommission these locomotives. It's a required 1,472 day inspection by the FRA.

+Michael Bowman 1225 was the "star of the show", or at least that was what was intended. And we had already covered 765 in PA before, and we knew full well we would be covering 765 again, and we did. Also, several of the other more unique events, like the doubleheader with Leviathan and 110, were events we were aware of, however if we had focused on 765, would have missed out on.
