A bit of the Turbomotive 6202 actually survives. Her original boiler 9100 was transferred into the Princess Royal pool during subsequent overhauls and ended up being fitted to 6203 Princess Margaret Rose when she was withdrawn and preserved.

Boiler 9100 was ordered for 6203 but fitted to 6202 until January 1936 when 6202 received boiler 9236 which it kept for rest of its career. 9236 was unique amongst Princess boilers in having 40 superheater flues. 46204 carried it whilst 46202 ws being converted to a reciprocating locomotive and from 1954 onwards it was fitted to 46212. 9100 was taken off 6202 in January 1936 and put straight onto 6203.

So it wouldn't have chuffed ? It would be one continuous blast of steam and smoke. I assume.

There were 3 sets of prototype Princess Royal frames constructed, 1 of which was used for the Turbomotive. This does not mean that the Turbomotive was built as Pricess Royal class, although it did have a domeless boiler as used on the 2nd batch of Princess Royals. It was always going to be built as the Turbomothve. She was not fitted with cylinders until rebuilt after WW2.

@@teescottageguyproductions your welcome. Are you aware that the Turbomotive was probably the most successful steam turbine locomotive? It had performance figures slightly better than the standard Princess Royal but did less damage to the track due to the absence of hammer blow.

No I had never known that! That’s amazing! Thank you so much

@@neiloflongbeck5705 Hi Neil, I'm struggling to find it now, but I'm sure I read that the fact that 46202 was rebuilt with the larger bore coronation class cylinders and having smaller wheels than a coronation class she held the record of the highest tractive effort of any British Pacific. Can you confirm.?
@stevebluesbury62063 жыл бұрын
@@nigelmitchell351 The Turbomotive was indeed rebuilt with Coronation class cylinders. The original driving wheels were retained, diameter remaining 6' 6" in contrast to the Coronation's 6' 9". Theoretically tractive effort could have been greater. It lasted two months before the Wealdstone and Harrow crash wrote it off. It's replacement was the only BR standard class 8 Duke of Gloucester.

Here is a link to the Swedish steam turbine locomotives that lasted much longer in use and at least one is preserved. Gives an idea of how Turbomotive sounded in use. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGq9lH-Ll7aaZ5Y

Who else is going to "do" a turbomotive? Do you just copy each other?

You do realise that more than 1 person can do a video about the same loco. Just search flying Scotsman into KZbin and you’ll see just how many videos have been done of that
