Great information!

By far the best video that walks me through the process of purchasing the ticket to catching the first train and then the transfer to Civtiaveccchia. I'll be flying into FCO with my mom for the first time to catch our cruise in a few months and the train option is the most cost effective way to get to our hotel in Civitavecchia. Thank you so much for this video

Thank you for your post. We love to share things we learn along the way and methods we have used for years. Have a great cruise and enjoy Civitavecchia!

I was told you had to get off at Trastavere station, change platforms to catch a connection to Civitaveccia.
@asgoodasitgets18 ай бұрын
Hello. That is one option. It depends on the train schedule, your bookings, and the train company for that specific time. If you take the Leonardo Express and/or the Frecciarossa (fast trains), you must change in Termini. If you take the 2nd-class commuter trains, you can either change trains in Trastavere, Ostiense, or Termini for both directions when going from Fiumicino to Civitavecchia. If the schedule works, we prefer the fast trains and pay the few extra Euro for 1st class cars and assigned seating. Why not? Happy traveling and thanks for your post!

Thanks for the information! Did say there are shuttle busses from the Civitavecchia train station to the port? Do you happen to know what the approximate cost of that would be? Or the approximate cost of a taxi/uber from the station to the port? Thank you!
@kiralyscarrasquillo22455 ай бұрын
If anyone is wondering, it was €10 per person! I used them to get to the port and also when leaving the port to get to the train station.

@kiralyscarrasquillo2245 did you pay in advance or paid as you boarded?
@kiralyscarrasquillo22455 ай бұрын
@@AllelieMoore Paid as I boarded! Once you get out of the train, there are a ton of drivers offering this service. You pay them in cash once you get dropped off at the port.

@kiralyscarrasquillo2245 Thanks so much. I was able to include a shuttle bus ride from the train to the port when I got our train tickets, but I need a shuttle.bus service from the port to the train station. This helps and makes me feel more at ease.

Just did the train from Civitavecchia to airport after a Royal Caribbean cruise. Man, people need to learn how to identify what train they are supposed to be on. So many people blindly boarded the train to Termini without realizing they were on a seat-reservation-only train. It was a mess.

When buying a ticket on the app. How do you know what type of ticket you have?

Hello, are you using www.trenitalia.com/en.html for your booking? Also, what date are you looking to book? There is a forecasted train strike coming up around 05 May, 2024 that will impact transportation. Best of luck!

I keep reading to go to Travestere to change trains but you went to Termini? Travestere appears to be more direct can you tell me your thoughts on the difference?
@asgoodasitgets111 ай бұрын
The Leonardo Express train is direct Fiumicino to Termini in about 32 minutes with zero enroute stops, cost is 14€ and are 1-level trains with luggage racks. The Regionale trains range from 51-74 minutes and have several stops, cost is 8€ and have 2 level trains with no luggage storage. The Regionale trains stop at Travestere and Ostiense which do have trains heading north to Civitavecchia, but they also don’t have dedicated luggage storage and are 2-level trains requiring you to carry your luggage up or down the stairs. These trains also have multiple stops enroute. There are Freccibianca 1st class and 2nd class trains (fast trains) that go Termini to Civitavecchia with one stop and are only a couple Euro more, but the comfort and speed is superior along with dedicated luggage racks. The other trains do not have the racks and are more passenger oriented and not traveler with luggage friendly. I hope this helps some. Termini is a large station with 26 (or so) platforms, but is very easy to navigate and drag luggage through and also has good displays.
