Leave alone overcharging ,they are rude, cook the food in a unhygienic way,(if you see the pantry and the way the material is stored,you will definitely not eat the food),use toilet water for cooking ,the personnel are dirty etc. Etc. Etc. Also all the railway authorities, contractor ,RPF is aware of what is happening. As long as they get their cut, they will turn a blind eye. All of them are cheats and their intention is to make a fast buck. Has any railway minister or the railway board members have tasted this food!!!!!!! God only can save India.

But packed item are probably not overcharged. But I would still say this also depends in the class u travel, 3AC, Sleeper, or general people might get over charged bcz vendor's try to be oversmart. But in 1AC, 2AC they do take caution.

Removing Pantry cars from trains isn't the solution. Think about the vendors who are somehow earning money and feeding thier families. It would be better if railways include all the catering charges within the ticket itself (Like they do in Rajdhani & Shatabdi Trains) All the people who want to have Food from Pantry Car can directly opt for Veg/Non Veg at the time of ticket booking. In this way Railway can easily provide 80 rupee Standard Food and problem of overcharging would be solved

Ie 11hr/12hr w stops trains to patna/Gaya w first fill tickets first train run for the day if 3am trains filled then start 4am filling/reservations for day so automatically thrs no overcrowding or people who r left out 1st 2 trains run non stop... Run... Same way from further 200kms ie 2hr distance between Trains that can B started ahead ie Etawah-Patna/Gaya 5am runs 8hrs vande bharat cc 100km stops
