Breaking News:A freight train has struck a Person while riding their bike! At 7:20 A.M. a man and his friends went to a crossing to cross the tracks to another location. The man was not paying attention to his surroundings and not looking both ways. Then approximately at 7:21 A.M., the man was struck by the train with full force. Blood was found on the snowplow with traces in the snow beside the rails. The man was reported with critical injuries. EMS and Paramedics arrived at the scene with an ambulance and a helicopter. It is unknown if the man will recover or not.

Police are requesting that people avoid the area as crowds are hampering the flow of emergency vehicles and hindering emergency workers as they try to process the scene and conduct a full scale investigation into the crash. So far it has been confirmed that the cyclist died on impact and his body is still on the scene as the police try to conduct their investigation. The engineer and conductor on the train were not injured in the accident. Union Pacific is reminding pedestrians and cyclists that their tracks are private property and that they must stop, look and listen if they intend to use the crossing.

This is why I stop and wait until fifteen after seven in the morning during school weeks and when I’m on my bike when I approach the train crossing I had to stop and look both ways, two weeks ago during spring break, I was on Madison street when there was a train coming and I got passed the first crossing but didn’t make it passed the second one because the arms went down both in front and behind me so I was stuck between two train crossings but I was fine just I didn’t go over the train tracks in time.
