Maybe a bowler hat got sucked into the air intake. That would explain why the Class 40 wouldn't move. 😂🤣

the vigilance (DSD) pedal is applying the emergency brakes the moment you stand up. IRL the moment your foot is removed from it with the direction handle in either Forward or reverse it will make a loud repetitive beeping noise before applying the emergency brakes. from my experience on class 50s and I imagine many other EE locos there is no manual isolation swich for obvious reasons although the DSD control box can be unplugged. However I'm pretty sure tsw4 diesels have one added in the cab to make gameplay easier along with a few other things such as the BIS (which is normally a big handle on the outside) also once the train brake pressure passes a certain point a contactor comes in preventing the locomotive from applying power.
@TrainsOfDorset Жыл бұрын
I believe the reason it wouldn't move isn't because of the brakes, it is because of wheel slip. He put the 40s onto full throttle immediately which meant because of the heavy load it couldn't get going. You can see this when he is sat down at 5:00 and then he stands up after the wheels stop again.

Ah, a modeled dead man's switch! That's pretty cool(albeit unfortunate)! The dead man's switch acts as a way to _prevent_ runaway trains. It's a pedal that has to be depressed by the driver/engineer's foot at all times, otherwise the train's throttle is disabled and the brakes applied in emergency. Pretty cool the Class 40 has it in game, buuuuut unfortunate for our cause. Oh well!
@Josephgray37 Жыл бұрын
I was thinking that
@Ben-rg3rd Жыл бұрын
although not there in real life I'm pretty sure locos like the 40 and 37 do have an isolation swich added
@davidwarda5616Ай бұрын
that's exactly correct and is what I said in the comment to him. basically, these trains have sensors and wires underneath their seat or perhaps inside the seats. when you sit on the seat, the pressure from your weight presses the wires and connects to the power sources, (Similar to how you plug something into a socket) and this adds power to motors. but these wires disconnect when you stand up, so there's no longer any power supplied to the train motors, so it won't move. that's the safety feature that most trains had in the past, now its all about parking brake, emergency shutdown brakes and other stuff.

Lesson learned: We all make mistakes (and the class 40 is definitely not the train to reenact a runaway train)

Why are the whistles in the UK (Britain) so high pitched, like no matter the size, they are always high pitched. If you look at the U.S locomotives, they have a lot of BIG locomotives, 4014 Big Bog for example, low/deep whistle and a small porter 0-4-0 betty has a nice high-pitched whistle. I just don't get it. Also, my country (Australia) has different pitched whistles based on locomotive size to an extent. But even still they have medium/middle pitched to low pitched whistles. So, can someone explain or give a history fact about it?!

The title should have been: Class 40's and his twin's failed escape from Sodor. (If you wonder why it was because sir topham hat decided to build a special jail shed for engines that commited crimes. Class 40 decided to steal a hat from the guy who got his hat sucked into Class 40. Then, Class 40 and his twin were caught and was sentenced to jail. But they ran away and was later caught)

@spyfan62591 Жыл бұрын
The class 40 has different brake notches, with the oil tankers, it needs to be set with vacuum freight, you probably had it in a different brake setting, trust me, it took me an hour to figure that out my first time, yes i started swearing and calling it an old stuck up .😅 the notch is located in the back of the cab by the door on the side of the handbrake its under the fire alarm.

No. There is a pedal that detects if someone has their foot on it. If no one has their foot in the pedal the train will apply emergency brakes.
