Used to see these every day on my way to Worsborough High School, usually with 2 leading Locos and 2 Banking!!! To get up the harsh incline. Never realised how much I loved them until they were gone 😢😢😢

Thanks for this video, thoroughly enjoyed it. :) Having spent a couple of hours with the 76 in TS myself, I think I can provide some helpful smartarsery on why stuff didn't work as expected at various points. Not writing this to be a twat, just trying to help with the headscratching: * 14:00 - To switch into Parallel, you have to put the power handle into notch 1 (*not* OFF) and wait a couple seconds. It'll do its click thing again and then you're in parallel. If you're coming from a notch > 1, you put the series/parallel lever into parallel like you've done and then move the power handle to 1. Holding 'E' will stop you going to far. If you are coming from 'OFF', you'd put the series/parallel lever into parallel and then apply notch 1 - same 2 second wait applies. The same principle applies when using regen as well, by the way. * 34:30 - As Paul Anderson has already pointed out, you were sliding down the hill. The speedometer and motor whine going down and back up very quickly are indicative of that. I've found that in these situations it's easiest to put the power lever into a low resistance notch (but not OFF, so as to avoid having to wait for the Series/Parallel thing again) first -- this pretty much stops the sliding. I then carefully adjust the regen brake lever to match up the two voltages again. Once that's done, it should be safe enough to open the power lever back up to Full Field. The regen brake lever is VERY sensitive, so be prepared to adjust up and down should sliding occur again. * 35:47 - Because the power lever was still in F.F., you couldn't move the regen lever into OFF, so for the rest of this section, all the power you were getting was at the minimum regen brake setting. In this situation it just happened to give you bit of power, a couple mph more and it would've looked different. * 38:48 - The regen brake lever is still in notch 1, which is why none of your attempts to use the rheostatic brake seemed to do anything. Ironically, right when you gave up, you had put the regen brake lever into OFF and the rheostatic brake would've worked just fine. X-) All in all, the physics in the class 76 are absolutely amazing and I have the greatest respect for Mr Fisk's work. By the way, are there similarly detailed manuals for the 506 and 08 in the same pack? The 08 has a lot of detail to it, which the DTG manual completely ignores.

BTW, I don't think you would be regen going upbank from Hadfiield! You are forgiven, in fact these locos were much easier to drive in real life than in a sim, like all the others out there. As it happens, very few drivers on these ever used weight transfer (I did not see it used, but tried it myself) or the clearcall on Worsboro' incline. Same goes for rheo brake, but I found it very rewarding to master. And very capable too. The old hands would, after having entered parallel, immediately put the combo lever back to series, for when speed had dropped back to associated speeds. This might be if adverse signal aspects were encountered. If anyone wants to know more just ask!

When you switch the locomotive to Parallel you must apply notch 1 only and wait for a couple of seconds until you hear a clunk then continue accelerating, you will find you now have double the power.

You actually go from full field series, or one of the weak fields, smoothly, back to N1, there is a press button on the notching lever that when pressed, allows the notching lever to go back and stop at N1, useful when bouncing around, as these locos did. The ser/para lever can then be moved up tp para and notch up further again, or, as some did, the combo lever could be put o para anytime after leaving N1and then as stated. Depends on how quickly you wanted to get finished! How do I know? I worked them! In the real world, not msts. Not demanding, but rewarding all the same.

Pretty sure you were sliding down the hill while you were trying to use the regen brakes you can hear the pitch of the motors changing as the wheels lock up and you begin to slide.

Just purchased the Woodhead addon in Steam spring sale. This video is really helpfull to learn how to drive the Class 76. It looks like you're reading from a manual which seems to be more specific than the one which comes from Steam. Could you tell me if that's right and is that manual available?

Hi. Is this different to Train Sim World? It's kinda confusing. Can you add a steam link in the description to buy this. I always end up on the TSW site when searching for this game.
