Train Simulator 2022 | Class 700 Desiro City | AP Enhancement Pack | Orpington - London Blackfriars

Hello and welcome to Train Simulator 2022!
We're back today on the Southeastern network with part 2 of our Orpington scenario! Last time if you remember, we drove this Class 700 Desiro City unit from Bellingham sidings through to Orpington in an empty stock move. It took a while due to us being the lowest priority out of anything!
Well today we're taking the train into service at Orpington, operating a stopping service bound for Luton. We'll be driving this set as far as London Blackfriars where another driver will take over.

I have a question if I may? As a chap who works in the industry. RA (right away?) on a signal, I understand that means the dispatcher on the train doesn't have to buzz the driver? How does this work? How does the signaller know you are ready to go? Is it just when the driver gets the appropriate signal and the interlocks are showing the doors are closed they depart? I have train sim and TSW and like to drive properly so just wondered. Sorry if it's a daft question. Thanks! Bare with me, I'm learning....slowly....😄

No worries at all! So with RA dispatch it works exactly the same as “buzz buzz” dispatch until the very end. The dispatcher gives the guard the first “tip” and the guard shuts the doors. Once all doors are observed to be closed, and all external hazard lights (except the coach the guard is in) is extinguished the dispatcher gives the guard the second tip. The guard boards the train and closes the local door, and would usually “buzz buzz” the driver, however in RA dispatch the guard does nothing. The dispatcher then turns a key or presses a switch on the TRTS panel once the train is safe to depart, and an RA symbol appears under the signal, so the driver knows to depart.

No worries at all! It’s a confusing system sometimes, for instance on Redcar Central - Manchester Airport TPE services, we do RA dispatch at Manchester Victoria, then buzz buzz at oxford road, and then back to RA dispatch at Piccadilly 🤣 all within the space of 15 mins 🤣

And interesting at Liverpool Lime Street for class 802 the dispatch method is 'buzz buzz' but for Class 68 and MK5a it is RA

@@JoeDobsongaming Ok, so extremely stupid questions cause I don't know anything about trains. What's a dispatcher? Cause the driver drives the train. The guard....does he closes the door and then check tickets? I just love the tracks and signalling and stuff but knows nothing about running trains really.
