(TRAIN) TRIP REPORT | Travelling After 3 Months!! ツ | Bratislava to Košice | ZSSK Rychlik

Train Trip Report on the ZSSK Rychlik from Bratislava to Košice on a nice spring morning which was my first trip after 3 months without travelling due to the situation everybody knows.
It was an absolutely different way of travelling but, actually, I felt very safe and comfortable. Everybody was respecting rules and distance. The services onboard the train were almost non-existent. I truly was disappointed when I've realised that there was no restaurant car when in all the country everybody can go inside restaurants since some weeks, however, It's for safety so I can understand it. Hope to see it soon again!

Bratislava hl. st. is underwhelming compared to Praha hl. n. or Wien Hbf, but it’s efficient and really easy to navigate. I spent a weekend in Bratislava last year and your video reminded me that I need to visit the Slovakian countryside. How do you like living there? I found it pretty relaxed even in July, though the heat wave was a surprise!

Bratislava is a nice place to live. Of course, it cant be compared with the major European capitals in some aspects. But I really like it. I really recommend visiting the Tatra Mountains during summer.

Thanks a lot, Andy! :) In Spain we had something similar like 30 years ago (I wasn't born by that time). Nowadays, you have some kind of cafeteria car on long-distance trains that serves really bad quality food that, of course, is not cooked on the train like in the Slovak ones.

You should try also the southern track :) Maybe it's less comfortable and takes longer, but there is also a beatiful nature in the middle of the country with a lot of mountains, tunnels, forrests, lakes,.. :) try search for ''Telgartska slucka'' for example :)

after digging some information at wiki the train model at 4:04 is 810/811/812/813 and at first glance at feels like rail bus and with some digging it is more like pacer as it even use a bus engine just like the pacer but information is just Czech or Slovak so that is all i can understand

If it helps: the original is the ČSD class M152 /later 810/ as a single motor car, propelled by LIAZ "bus" engine and Praga hydraulic torque converter, the UIC axle formation is A'1', because one propelled axle in "single axle bogies". The trailer, similar to a "railbus", is the ČSD class 011, Baafx or Btax later. The Slovakian ŽSSK class 811 is the best reconstruction, made by Vrútky Loco Depot by its workers themselves, because its electric power transmission and UIC axle formation Ao'Ao' - the adhesive forces are doubled with electronic anti-wheel-slip regulation. Those features perfectly fit into the Slovakian mountainous region. One trailer class 011 got reconstructed into the class 912 - cab trailer for the class 811, used on the Čadca - Makov line. The Slovakian ŽSSK class 812: is a crap (everything else of 811 is a weak crap), because UIC A'1' formation and hydraulic torque converter. The interior is refurbished in two ways - some cars got 3+2 seat arrangement, some, so-called "Lux" 2+2 seat arrangement. Finally, the ŽSSK class 813/913 "Baguette" DMU: UIC formation is 1'A'1'1' (weak traction forces), MAN diesel engine and Voith hydraulic torque converter. Slightly higher maximum allowed speed - 90 kmph. The motorcar and the cabcar are permanently coupled having covered overpass between the cars. The interior is refurbished into 2+2 vis-a-vis seat configuration. I am not impressed...

Enjoyed railway tip tor a change. There seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel on getting around, if only a small one. For me, being Spanish and used to the trains we have there... Both R and IC trains in Slovakia have a special charm. I just love the restaurant cars in these trains. In Spain there are just pre-cooked meals that taste horrible and pre-cooked sandwiches.... =(

Wow I didn’t expect this trip report. Brought me some memories as I haven’t used this station since the pandemic had started. And good for you you’ve used the northern route because the southern one is a nightmare 😀 and yes the building definitely needs a new look. Hey qué pasa Lucas, bonito viaje nuevamente en tren, el tren que comentas a principio del vídeo que va paralelo al vuestro, no se el modelo, pero es muy similar en cuanto al concepto a nuestros Ferrobuses de origen alemán que rodaron por nuestra red, en Galicia fueron de las ultimas zonas donde rodaron, eran de color plateados y parecían un autobús de ahí el nombre que los pusieron Saludos

At least, Slovakia is safest country in Europe, there are only 1500 infected, and daily cases are 0,1,2,3. Now is in Slovakia different situation, I think restaurant cables in trains are open now. And at begin of the video you said Bratislava main station needs upgrade :D I read they will renovate it somewhere from 2021 to 2025. Have a nice day!

Yep, that's true. Everything is opened here. The fast actions taken by the government in early-March were worth! Hopefully, they will continue with those plans! It's absolutely necessary!

A lot of people asked me already that... and I always answer the same: I've never had any scare about travelling by plane, so I really don't have any clue how to answer that question... Maybe by reading and watching videos about how airplanes work could help you to feel safer. They are extremely safe, that's what I can tell you. Statistically, it's safer to be on an airplane rather than be on the street! :)

me gusta la aviación, me gustan los aviones, tanto civiles como militares, todo, me gusta verlos volar y, cuando vuelo, lo disfruto al máximo como un niño entusiasmado pero, los trenes... no sé, tiene su magia, tiene su encanto, tiene algo que hace que las cosas sea muy relajantes, tranquilos y serenos... hay cierto romanticismo en eso de viajar en tren. Eso es algo que yo capto al ver sus videos de viajes en tren. Y los paisajes, ni se diga. Nunca he viajado en tren, en mi país, Colombia, no existe un sistema de trenes y, por eso, sueño con hacer algún viaje en tren. Lo felicito capi por este tipo de videos. ¿cuando vas a hacer un video de viaje en tren desde, por ejemplo Madrid ó Barcelona hacia Asturias? saludos y buen viaje, buenos vientos.

Totalmente de acuerdo respecto a lo de viajar en tren! Tiene algo que ningún otro medio de transporte tiene. Yo soy de aviones 100%, eso está claro, pero de vez en cuando me encanta viajar en tren, especialmente si el servicio a bordo es tan bueno como en éste! :) Lo cierto es que ahora mismo me es complicado hacer esos viajes por España, pues vivo a unos 2.000 km de Madrid... =/

4:11 As a Slovak guy who formerly was in a local train club, I can assure you that this is 813/913 "Baguette"... As a short-haul train, I would say it was going to Malacky or Nové Zámky. But Malacky is more likely because it was taking the north rail.

Muy bueno el vídeo, estos de trenes son bonitos por muchas razones sobretodo por los paisajes espectaculares que se ven y también hay que resaltar el servicio de restaurante es magnífico que pinta tenia todo eso aquí ni de coña te lo ponen así y mas por lo que cuesta ahí. No se si es mio el problema pero te cuento que la imagen a veces no es nítida es como si estuviera desenfocada y no se puede ver con claridad por ejemplo los paisajes etc. Un cordial saludo

Muchas gracias, Rafa! Me alegra mucho que te haya gustado! :) Se del problema de imagen que hablas. Se debe a que lo que grabo está demasiado cerca de la cámara y el tren va demasiado rápido. Por eso los paisajes más lejanos no salen tan desenfocados. Espero poder arreglarlo para futuros vídeos de trenes. Respecto a la comida del tren... bueno... qué decir que no sepamos... el servicio de restauración en Renfe no ha hecho más que decaer en las últimas décadas... Saludos y buen fin de semana!!!

Ahhh I love the trains in slovakia. I always take them. Kosice is about a 30 minutes train from where I live in Slovakia. It was nice to see you come close. I take this train alot and I love it😀😉👍👋😍 Just a random question. Did you girlfriend go aswell coz when you where boarding the train I saw you being right behind a women, you said you going to social distance so yea just wondering😉😊👍 Ahhhh lol when you where recording the cabin of the train there was a reflection of someone's face from this protection things. I thought it was you but I'm pretty sure it wasn't coz I saw them on the other side🤣 BTW what video was the mara and tatry seen a month ago?

Glad that you've enjoeyd it! It was a great experience, as always, however, I've missed the restaurant car... Apparently they will be back from tomorrow together with the IC service. Yes, she was travelling with me. However, inside a train or a pane is difficult to maintain always the social distance. That's why everybody wears facemasks. :) The video that has those views is the Wizzair A321NEO flight from Vienna to Warsaw :)

Just a 1-2 minutes per stop. The food is amazing on these trains. You have all the prices on the menu, just before the food appears. But no, it's not really expensive. :)

I would rate the restaurant as 7 stars. The rest of the train, well... not 5 stars, for sure not. However, the relation price-quality is probably more than 5*. :)

Hablabas, con razón, de la estación de Bratislava, que no parece todo lo moderna ni adecuada que deberíá. Si alguna vez vas por Oporto pásate por la estación de Campanhá y me cuentas. Cojí un tren en Campanhá para ir a Lisboa y vaya cosa más hortera de estación, impropia de una ciudad que es la segunda capital del pais como es Oporto
