Right around the eleven minute mark, you are telling about a derailment. In the distance you can see a road bridge. If I am not mistaken, that is 24th Street Bridge. If you stand on the bridge, looking back toward Alto Tower, to the left of the tracks was the location of Slope Tower. Directly across from the tower was a turntable used to turn helper power in the days of steam. It is amazing how many towers the Pennsy had in the Altoona area. Not being a Pennsy expert, I believe between Juniata in the east end to slope tower west of Alto, there was 5 towers,.

At the 24 minute mark you mention being at the 242 mile marker. At one time in the early part of the 20th century, a coal company, White Coal Company. had a business just off the curve. Not being from the Altoona area I have never had much success finding any pix or articles about the site. Maybe you might have better luck.

This must've been their opening weekend. It was definitely closed last weekend when I was there. All the gates were closed.
