Boy, he's a big horse. For the people concerned about the flinching and 'non fluid movements' They get used to it. People are not fluid movers and the horse needs to get used to natural human motion. The horse obviously is used to horses and sudden horse movements do mean he needs to respond. Just like he's used to going down on a knee when someone grabs his foot. But they have to learn human behavior is different than horse behavior. and he will.

Mustangs hate if you tap or pat them, to them its an incursion, don't forget in their wild existence that equates to the beginnings of a battle as its a quick movement directed towards them and the noise is also the same for them. If you want him to lower his head, gently push his head up and he will generally give in. I find they respond to this way of thinking. Really nice horse and love your way around him.

I recently bought a mustang in hopes of training him for trailing. He is so wild and scared of people the 2 trainers I've payed to come break him have failed. Claiming he's "too aggressive to work with". The only time we've even been simi able to get a haleter on him, he bolted and choked himself and we had to cut it off immediately. I'm supprised to see how willing this mustang was.
@missgms77812 жыл бұрын
That is because horses must not be broken, but rather, trained. The whole break a horse shit is dangerous and harmful, try searching for qualified, certified horse behaviorists, they know how to use horse body language and psyche to tame and train horses in safe and efficient way, also be careful with who you hire, some people are scammers and animal abusers who take advantage of situations like yours.

Not bad not sure how many days in this is but the horse is responding really well, but a little bit too much posturing and pressure which made the horse uncomfortable this "30 days" is bullcrap just take your time, let it go on for months make sure they're really comfortable with everything
@AD-gu4ju5 жыл бұрын
The point of the 30 days and things like the mustang magic/makeover competition are to encourage people to adopt mustangs. Some people really think they can never bond with a wild horse or that they can never be trained. This is to show them that they can be, even in 30 days they’ll show improvement.

My family has a weird way of breaking/training a horse to be rode we make a little bridle like thing and have about 10 ft of rope behind it then blind fold it so it is in our hands for it to not run into anything and if you do it good (good is just making sure he/she don’t run into anything) he/she gains your trust and you can eventually lead up to getting on it took us about 20 minutes to be able to somewhat ride it and about an hour later she rode really good

@@tanishabennett1455 get a halter, get 2 ten foot ropes, tie the ropes to the halter, blindfold the horse, and walk him around and make sure he don’t run into anything and he will eventually gain trust, i had a young horse and it took 20 minutes to be able to ride him.

Body language, no need to baby talk. For that matter other than clucking or a soothing whoa, there is no need to talk to a horse. The only other opinion I have to share is to act as natural as you can with the horse. He will be jumpy yes, but you need to keep desensitizing those matters until he realizes it's just natural. Your making great progress your horse is looking great. Keep up the good work

Hi, I just came across your video, he's a beautiful mustang, I've adopted a mustang my self (4 yr old mare from "Devil's Garden" in California, her name is Delilah) thru an approved trainer at the "Mustang heritage foundation TIP program" and they gentle the horse, meaning before I take possession of the horse they should be able to be haltered, lead, pick up all four feet and be able to trailer, the rest is up to me. I'm just curious as to why did you put two halters on him? any particular reason ? Thank you so much for sharing your journey with your mustang. I'm sure that some us can appreciate and benefit from your videos, again thank you !

It's a method called desensitizing, your supposed to go that pace, it gets the horse used to the faster movements, so when he is used to that you go at a natural pace, so it is nothing and really easy for the horse

I just happened across this video. I not sure what you're trying to show. Is it what you accomplished in 30 days. More like 6 months. You're not showing how you got the horse to raise it's feet or stand to put on a halter over a halter. Just that it did. So is this some kind of advertisement. A look at me video.

You don't flip the rope halter end up like that. You need to learn how to put on a rope halter. And you are afraid of the horse. If you don't think the horse knows that, then you are crazy. The horse views you as a lower horse.

I like how he said he only leads if hes on the inside. Why in the hell would you put yourself on the outside between the gate and horse. One hell of a way to get yourself in a pickle. This is very poor “ training” and lack of know how on this guy. You could learn a fee things by clinton andersons method. Gain his respect on the ground by moving his feet , backwards, forwards, left and right. Im tellin ya, it works. Dont matter if its a mustang , through-bred, or zebra. It works.
@warrenwallace25 жыл бұрын
This goes to show how much we have lost in intelligence. The easiest way and natural way to train a wild horse is to walk the horse into water up to his belly and mount the house and walk him in the water for 2 hours a day for 3 days and let him or her know there ok.

Kendall Goulet it’s called ground tying. And it teaches the horse to stand still without relying on force. Especially when working with mustangs that can have a flight response(running away) it’s safer for both the horse and trainer.
@kendallgoulet80216 жыл бұрын
you don't say training, you say breaking.
@ivycarr51796 жыл бұрын
Excuse me, breaking? "Breaking" is a traditional horse training word in reference of "breaking the horses spirit", shutting it down, making it feel that it has no other option but to comply; Giving it no free will to trust on its own. I have seen many horses being "broken in", where their head is tied as high as it can on a pole, front feet are lifted off the ground, and their legs are tied under them, saddles are thrown on their backs, weighed down with sand bags. The horse is then "desensitized" while people throw tarps,shoot guns, and whip the horse until it has completely shut down and stopped moving from exhaustion. These people then take these amazing creatures on their first ride, soon after untying them from the pole. the horse is so exhausted that it has no energy to fight back. I am not trying to sound rude, but "breaking" is a word that should be erased out of the equine vocabulary. There are now science based, truly force free ways of training that bring out the best in a horse. Please look up Connection Training, Georgia Bruce, The Willing Equine, Karen Pryor. These people are the most up to date, educated, and professional animal trainers you will find today.
