In this video we are going to share how we train a young mule. Much like training horses, mules need clear consistency and above all you have to build a solid trusting relationship with your equine partner.
If you've been watching our channel for a while than you are very familiar with our new molly mule, Josey! We figured it was time for a training update!
We have owned Josey for five weeks now and have been consistently working with her during that time. If you remember, she wasn't halter broke when we purchased her. She was pretty timid towards us, but quickly started to warm up and even seek attention.
We are going to show you what we have been doing with her so far and also introduce her to some new scary objects to show how to utilize the natural curiosity in a young equine! We will keep posting updates and bring you all along with her journey from a scared unhandled yearling to a confident mountain mule!
It really helps us out if you like and subscribe! Be sure to leave a comment if you have any questions, suggestions or a good story about your mule or horse!
As always thank you for watching!
God Bless!

Alright mule and horse people! Do you have any specific tips or tactics for working with young horses or mules? Alyssa and I love working with our mules, but we still have a lot to learn! Thank you for watching and contributing here in the comment section :)

Being a horse owner for 32 years, some youngster starting and training with troubled horse, what I can see here is horsemanship at it's findest. The absolute love for every little detail right from the start plus setting boundaries right from the start will let you progress in no time at all. Being as soft as possible and as hard as needed ( applies to equines, dogs and kids...). Please keep US updated, it will a pleasure to join you on your journey

Wow! Thank you so much for your kind words 😊 We love working with our mules and we always try our best, but we’re still far from professionals, so it’s nice to hear words of encouragement 😊 We’re super excited about little Josey and we plan to share the whole journey of working with her and (hopefully) showing her progress into an awesome mountain mule- she sure has the potential! 😊

She's so beautiful and smart. You're doing wonderfully well with her. Her sniffing and investigating the tarp is very much her mule side. Even on trail rides, she is wise enough to assess the trail conditions - explore, examine, assess. She'll get where horses fear to tread!

I take prowler on chore walks where I go pick up dog toys or things around the yard. He has to stop n wait and then turn and follow or back .whatever I wanna do. Then I started saddling and rode a ways . If he got tight I'd get off and hike with him . Stopping and doing stuff. Pick a flower or move some rocks. Haaa. Just doing things that had nothing to do with him but he'd have to move around for me. Then I'd get back on and ride a while. I'm still at that phase with him . Done some good loops up on the trails just him n I. I don't have anyone handy to ride with so we just go. He really doesn't care about leaving the herd . I think cuz we did chore walks. Now they are just longer chore walks. So fun.

Thank you Kray! The brush has little metal teeth on it that help remove the loose hairs… the mules all love it! The little quiver was similar to the quiver they do when a fly lands on them… they’ll do it a lot of times when you touch them and they aren’t quite paying full attention. We just have 2 1/2 acres here, but we sure love it! 😊 And yeah, unfortunately there’s a lot about our house that needs fixed up lol the deck and steps are pretty high on the list. We filmed a little property tour and we talk about all the fun stuff that needs done around here… Hope can get it edited and released here pretty soon 😊 Thanks for watching and taking time to leave another nice comment, Kray!
