Training - M221 - M14.5 Linking variables from M221 to EcoStruxure Operator Terminal Expert
In the version V3.2 SP2 of the software we have on the Equipment a variable called "ErrorFlag
" that when there is a communication error, this flag is set True but we need to manually reset the flag after confirming the error.
The software EcoStruxure Machine Expert Basic (former SoMachine Basic) allows you to program the Modicon M221:

The software EcoStruxure Machine Expert Basic is Free, you need to have an account in our License Portal in order to register it:

In order to program the Modicon M221 you can use a miniUSB cable (TCSXCNAMUM3P or BMXXCAUSBH018).

After the installation of EcoStruxure Operator Terminal Expert, the trial version of the software is available for 42 days and will have to be activated with the commercial license. In UK we only have the printed licenses.
In trial version the download option for USB , Ethernet or File System is disabled.

good explanation Leandro, but i cannot import memory bits from a project of M221 using symbol link. When i choose the option Somachine file name driven all the variables are imported except memory bits. How can i do to fix this issue?

Hi there! I will probably try the following: 1) Check that the %M variables have a name (symbol name). 2) Check that the smbp file selected is the correct one. 3) Use the latest version of EcoStuxure Operator Terminal Expert (the latest version is the v3.5)

Buenas Cristian! Cuando se usa el SymbolLink el software crea una carpeta a la cual no podemos modificar el nombre lamentablemente. Como alternativa, no lo probe, podrias exportar las variables desde el EOTE y modificar el archivo con la propiedad de la carpeta para que no aparezca en el symbollink (si mal no recuerdo el nombre de la carpeta es igual al nombre del driver, este al ser importado debe ser distinto). Hi NelsonGCR! The modicon m221 does not have a webvisualization like the m241/m251/m262. If you need a webserver then probably the best is to have an small hmi like the hmisto735 + webviewer license.

Is there a way to set %MW to UINT 0-65535? - I want to save the value read by serial IOScanner from slave device to MW. But MW seems to be INT -32,768 to +32,767. Can I change that?

Buenas Carlos, espero que vos tambien estes bien. A esta altura creo que ya hiciste la integral 😅. Si usas el pid del m221 no tenemos acceso a esta informacion por ende el calculo debe ser manual. Si es manual entonces deberas tener en cuenta el ciclo de scan para calcular el valor del ciclo actual con el anterior.

Can I write to varibles on the PLC? Im trying to write to a simple contact bit from the simulator. Changing it from 0 to 1 and vice versa but it doesnt change. However its able to read the bit when I force a bit value. Im using the trial version of Terminal expert.

Hi there! Unfortunately my knowledge on the trial is very limited... i am aware that you can not download the application to an HMI and the trial is only for 38 days... i think that there is not a limitation for connection.

Hi Mahir, the HMI software required an an specific syntax of the content inside the file to make the import valid. Please check the next video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iavUgJZqZpuCo6s You can also try to match the export file in your app with the one you want to import.

@@mahirkubilayozturk114 the videos that i am uploading are not related with M580/M340 platform. You will need to export from CE or UnityPro a XVM file with the variables you want to share with the HMI then in the EOTE you can import the XVM file in the symbol link after the driver has been added. If you need further information contact the technical support team of schneider in your country.

What Modbus SIO stands for? is it Modbus RTU?

Hi Hayk! Good question. I may have no answer for this but the driver "Modbus SIO" is for Modbus Serial communication. If I am not wrong the SIO can stand for Serial IO but I am not 100% sure.
