Training Methods So Strong Jagex Deleted them from Oldschool Runescape!

With the recent removal of the duke mining training method, I thought it would be interesting to look back at some other training methods removed throughout the years.
There have been a number of methods that have been heavily nerfed our straight up stripped from oldschool runescape. Sometimes its because they offer insanely high exp rates, but other times its related to huge ammounts of AFK time. I'll be covering infamous examples such as AFK nightmare zone training, but also some lesser known methods as well.

Kush Patel was great when I got a deep tissue massage from him. He even trained my runecrafting for me as part of the spa package he offers. Fantastic experience, 10/10. I highly recommend trying the sesame crusted porkchop, he's a great cook.

I think I might know one of the oldest of these nerfed unintentional training methods. Back in the day "Charge" on the normal spellbook had no cooldown. When the original Desert Treasure first launched someone in my clan burned through 150k+ blood runes in about an hour to train from 85 - 94 magic. The method was nerfed shortly after by adding the cooldown.

Right. Literally a list of bots on the hiscores for vork, zulrah, even hunter but they are worried about 10k xp per hour afk methods.

Something that most people just won't believe. Runescape runs their own bots and sells the gold on the side. Explains how so many bot farms can run for obscene amounts of time and gold earned, and don't get banned till a KZbinr makes a video about it. The excuses that they wouldn't do that, are absurd. They don't care about the players, they care about the profits.

The cure me method was done at the morytania spider nest iirc. There are multiple spiders that can venom you there so the venom would be reapplied really quickly.

Fun thing regarding the weight on arrow keys / space bar (space bar is incorrect afaik), you can do the same for splashing magic for 6 hrs as well as pumping blast furnace for str exp. However, with pumping you stop gaining exp after 10000 ticks (100 minutes) so you need to re-operate the pump to continue gaining exp. This isn’t fixable due to engine work and this anti-log method has existed since RS2 beta.

@FlippingOldschool another removed method was Piscarilius theiving, on release you didnt lost the items being stole if you teleported with the Kharedst's memoirs teleport, this saved you from doing half the run back each time, so for about a day you were able to get about +50% xp rates compared to the standard best xp rate options for theiving from 50-99.

i didn't know they nerfed the toy mouse method i used that method in rs2 and when i started my new main in osrs. i remember mining iron all day on the first day of launch back in 2013 to make iron knives to buy my start up gear and a few toy mice were part of that start up gear. i think you could go from lvl 1 to 40 in just an hour and thats what i did

I still train at the bandit camp to this day. With pray pots and ancients/high gear melee its honestly still pretty good XP for a training spot thats almost always empty

And wards that let you train any skill you any in any location on the map! But idk of any games that have implemented these ideas... SURELY they'd be super successful if they did that :P

When AFK guthans was a thing the log timer was 12 hours. They went to 6. Then made the 20 minute deal.

Forced log out aka nerd log and afk log out are 2 different things, it changed from 5 mins to 20(customisable) not 12 or 6 hours of afk

@@LaidbackLukee Ok thanks for the technical details, no need to try to be an ass hat though. I was only talking specifically about NMZ and being AFK. If you were getting continuously attacked, you stayed logged in for 12 hours. Same with splashing back in the day. They dropped that to 6. Then changed it to where you had to interact every 5 minutes. Now it's the weird customizable time. That's all I was saying. You used to not get force logged UNTIL you were nerd logged if you were in combat. That timer was 12 hours.

When nightmare zone first released you had free runes inside of it.. so you could leave your character afk for 6 hours with FREE blood barrage. It was insane and was how i got 99 mage lmao

Just thankful you didn't mention my method of 99 combat stats. NMZ and Chrome remote desktop. I think I could afk for 20 minutes before i'd stop attacking, but 1hr before i'd log out. So long as i logged in every hour at work, I'd get some good training in. Didn't take long to max. Then I joined a clan and everyone said I bought my account even after explaining my method. Noobs.

Nmz mage back in the day was OP, you'd get a group of 3-4 people and then pay someone to stack the mobs. It was great xp an hour, afk as all you had to do was click the monsters, and to top of off the runes and free and provided inside the instance. Back then burst/barrage runes was pretty expensive aswell. I know a few people with 200m mage done most of the xp this way before they removed the method

Seems like a lot of methods have been “patched” pretty much all of the methods I use from different videos never give the xp boasted. I’ve never made more than 80k xp/hr for any stat.

Its not just 10k mining exp per hour, its more like 120k+ mining exp per day for doing absolutely nothing. Start mining when you go to bed, wake up, start mining, go to work, come home to 120k mining exp, might aswell start botting if thats allowed

It's 6 times slower than the optimal methods and you get nothing out of it. You could still do this at GOTR and that screws up people trying to properly do the content. I just dont understand why we are not aloud to get these hidden skill building. for one if we want our person to get a high lvl in something then so what its our playing person. i quit and restarted over 3 time , i also have been playing since 2006 on and off. and the main reason i give up on this game is because its so hard to lvl in any thing .the higher your lvl the harder it is to lvl up. so frustrating to me.

I feel like whatever niche methods the actual playerbase can use as a nice chill training method while at work or busy with schoolwork, Jagex nerfs. Meanwhile a bot can run 10-16 hours a day doing max efficient training/pvm methods and not get banned. Most of these nerfs are an L for Jagex and for us...

Yeah it basically is the fine line between grinding skills yourself and just saying fuck it and botting, and they know just how to keep both ways of game play balanced to a point to keep people coming back ... botters hate sweats and sweats hate bots and everyone gets fucked somehow eventually 😂😂😂 other then PVP I don't see why people hate botters so much, just enjoy playing however you do that is the biggest thing imo
