Prime Denis was a completely different monster. His physique was on another level back then. Some of the freakiest looking arms ever. But, after his health problems, he will never be the same. Hell, I've never really quite been the same since my cancer treatment. Sometimes a big health problem can have life-long consequences. That's why before his match with Devon, i kept leaving comments saying, "Don't expect to see a prime Denis." Denis is still a monster, but nothing like his earlier days. The Denis vs Pushkar matches of the early to mid 2010's were some of my favorites. Those guys were constantly pushing each other to get better. Pushkar was/is an absolute legend. Nice to see him included here. Great video, Michael and Rebecca!

Sure, Denis may never be what he was, but Devon also, is twice what he has ten years ago. What we’re seeing now IS PRIME DEVON.
@jamesdjl43597 ай бұрын
@@brandonwalker6781 That may well be true, my friend. But, i wasn't commenting on Devon at all here. The two points are not mutually exclusive. Simply pointing out, it's not entirely realistic to expect Denis to get back to his prime after such a serious health scare.

I think he might be able to compensate what he lacks now with others strengths, like better technics and training more of his hand. His hands are still just as freak as they used to, and thought his back pressure might never be as good as it used to, it's still super strong and I bet one of the strongest even among other top super heavyweights

The best thing of you is the observation, deep knowledge of Arm wrestling. All the best you and your family.

I think you mis understood what Denis meant, he was saying the cheat curl is good for stopping the opponent but it does NOT have enough range of motion as an excercise to help develop the muscles and tendons needed to fight back once you lost that angle. So its important to also do other exercises that train that range of motion to have the ability to fight back if they blow through the lock on the angle developed by the cheat curl.

I followed the channel from a few years ago when i found it. However, i have been a fan of armwrestling for decades The channel has grown a lot ans the content, editing etc is really top notch I remember commenting a while back saying the channel will surpass 100k subscribers before you know it. I can see it growing more exponentially in the coming years. It can only help promote sport, especially while you are still an active armwrestler

Pushkar is painfully right about resting. Less is more….well without stemcells he is 100% right. With the types of juice on the self today at your disposal maybe the game has changed? I come from the “crazy gymnast strength” area of training and have very rarely met someone who is close to me strength wise lbs per lbs. As I’ve gotten older I realised I don’t actually have to do the volume I used to in order to maintain and gain in strength. A very hard workout pushing very close to failure then resting until I feel good again is definitely the way to go for me. Keep training Mike. Very happy you’re back!
@g-man25077 ай бұрын
Very fascinating. The benefit of doing really heavy cheats to failure is that it stimulates overall growth and power, although not necessarily directly to table strength. With that newfound power, you do the more specific arm wrestling training which has a more direct translation to the table.
@Pepe-pq3om7 ай бұрын
Not really optimal for growth, unless you cheat the way up and control the weight to go down slowly
@fataliity1017 ай бұрын
I agree with all his talks with using single arm bicep training. That stability is important to train to control it while also doing a compound movement like in arm wrestling.

Wonder why taras dont come back. Levons been benching a ton latley. So many valid interesting points here. I love this style of video mike. Dude pushkar was bad ass strong. That guy was no joke.and was mega intense. If he was around today there is no saying where he would be or how the ratings would be. Many have said including devon he could and probably would be no.1 today. Man i loved his work remember when he was ypung and he arm wrestled that one guy they almost killed eachother. I have to look it up now. Warm up is so important to prevent injury i can kinda believe andre because if you over train arm wrestling world ligaments and tendons heal slower if they are over worked or dont have time to catch up maybe they tear or fail. Knowing and feeling and reading your body is the best thing i ever heard said and is very true. Some parts can get over worked and need a break and some may just need more becuase they are behing. Super interesting mike cool vid.
