When I had to show my pig at fair I got grand champion and I was so proud....but the worst part was when I sold him because we all know where he went...

Amanda The Pickle Sometimes the grand champions are used for breading instead of bacon.
@kadengaither28706 жыл бұрын
Clayton Hull it is spelled breeding not breading and it will not be used for breeding if it's a barrow

So what do you do if your pig dosent listen at all and you cant get him to walk
@ameliawalicki29953 жыл бұрын
i’m asking the same thing
@Piggy_pals Жыл бұрын
Try walking them along a fence and staying near their head. This keeps them from running so that you can actually train them. Of course as they learn you can start walking them off the fence and moving yourself back. This is just what I do! ❤❤

Yikes. All my training with my pigs went to nothing when I left for a 4 day vacation, and now I gotta train them for my showmanship in less than a week

I always wondered - are you penalized for smiling in the competition? I can understand the eye contact rule to increase difficulty, but why everyone looks so angry at the competitions? Also, is there any age limit for competition? I mostly see kids doing that and I wonder why. This is so bizzare sport, just like hobby horsing xD

My pig will not stop putting and pays no attention to the whip she likes to back up and ran away and no matter what I do she doesn't listen

Pig whips are total sadistic abuse!! 😈😠 Take a few hits yourself on bare skin.
@lukedesalvo69632 жыл бұрын
@@texastwister6988 if you know how to use them no they are not a light tap is ok just not super hard taps and there are tests that make sure your not abusing your animal. Show pigs have a lot better life than most regular pigs do because they are brushed on loved on walked out of their pen and it is easy to focus on a hog or two to make sure they are doing very well.

How do you keep your pig from running?
@WeaverLivestock7 жыл бұрын
Belinda, sometimes even the best trained pigs run. Our best advice is to make sure you react calmly and in a reserved manner. Walk up to your pig and start to redirect using you whip or pipe of choice. When starting out, try working your hog in smaller confined area until they get accustomed to the whip or pipe. Once that happens, you can move them to a larger area. Just remember that your reaction to them running plays a big factor, so always stay calm and never chase them. Thanks for the great question and for watching!

I have a pig that runs, or at least it used to. All I did was stay by its side letting it know it can’t get away from me

I take my whip and lightly tap their face (between the ears) and they slow down, just remember to be easy
