Today I'm riding Vixen, a beautiful Foxtrotter mare who has some issues with tossing her head to bit contact, speeding up and down hills, being less than smooth in gait transitions, and not maintaining a smooth gait by trotting or loping, especially when approached from behind by other horses.
I discuss how to increase light contact with the mouth, collect, and drive the hindquarters with leg pressure to improve gait and decrease "trotty" behavior.
If you have questions or concerns about a gaited horse you have, we're here to help! Gaited horses are amazing and so fun to work with! We look forward to hearing from you!
