I am from India What gauge is used in New Zealand? It seems pretty narrow. In India we use an extraordinarily broad gauge, 1676 mm, some newer metro systems use standard gauge, 1435mm

Yep, New Zealand’s national network is all 3’6” narrow gauge. It was chosen as the gauge back in the 1870’s due to the curves required because of the country’s terrain.

Hopefully the wgtn metro services can get returned to the ownership of kiwirail rather than metlink/gwrc/transdev etc.
