If there one thing i love doing, thats going through old films on the network and seeing how much it has changed, and this line is actually one of the best examples of that

Sergent Sylveon apart from the actual trains, Boston station hasn't changed much between the filming of this footage and when I was there last year.

Neil Dahlgaard-Sigsworth I have to agree, the station hasn’t changed that much, although the land around the line certainly has been developed.

Roy - what can I say? Where to start? Well, your British Rail footage just gets better and better! 23:26 minutes of pure joy. I didn't want it to end! I loved all the trains - the mixed livery rakes (even a mixed Class 150!) were great! Lots of great action with of course the legendary Class 20s stealing the limelight as always. But I loved the Class 47s and old DMU's too. Fair play to you for taking the trouble to capture what were mundane at the time - but what I would give now to go rattling to Skeggy looking out the front of a 108! And as for the manual gates, semaphore signals, with the staff working them and the pilot man with the flags - and Heckington windmill too! You captured it all so beautifully - and thank you very much for sharing it all with us.

Cracking vid, it's nice to see my hometown in the days like this. I may be 17 now but wow, I wish I was there seeing class 31s and 20s going to skeg. Now we only get them for specials.

Very unusual hybrid Sprinter: both numbered 150140, but one car in original and one in the later livery

Brings back memories for me. I travelled to Skeg on a 20, a heritage DMU and later an experimental 170 at various times. The class 20 was always a treat.

Blimey!! I didn’t realise how much the station & surroundings have changed. All the buildings on the Skegness platform have gone & the land behind there is now Asda; which is where I work 😊. The Sprinter trains certainly looked in better condition then the ones we have now. My son jokingly calls the single car trains ‘dogboxes’.

Did this line many times behind Choppers during the summers . 1 year got stranded in Boston due to a suicide ahead of us ! Have you got any footage of any 40`s running the Skeg?
@rickybrett6846 Жыл бұрын
It became a standing joke that you wouldn't see network south east stock in the south east but go to Birmingham, Skegness, Blackpool... basically anywhere north of Watford it was everywhere

Times when women in skirt and Austin Mastreo's and Mini metro's still were a familiar sight. As were the BR trains, the double 20's clearly being the bashers choice. Obviously, looking on Google street view, the line didn't change much, although the images are from 2011, so not sure if the mechanical signals and lovely crossing gates are still there now.
@personwhotalkstomuch48984 жыл бұрын
Tom Lahaye if you are refering to Boston, then they went years ago, however, Hubberts Bridge do still have the old style signals and manual gates, at least for another year, so I’m told.

Meanwhile if you're going to Skegness you have a choice of a 6 car DMU or a pair of Class 20s!, or a 31, or a 47!😀

Bring the Class 20s back. Rather like the CP (Portugal) Classe 1400 used in Portugal and Argentina.
