Trains at: Norwich, GEML, 15/09/15

An absolutely fantastic evening spent at Norwich station on the Great Eastern Mainline where we see plenty of services from Abellio Greater Anglia and a couple of services by East Midlands Trains.
I really enjoyed filming here, it's a station that I've really wanted to come to for ages now but never really had the chance. The actual station itself is the eastern terminus of the Great Eastern Mainline served primarily by the Intercity services going to and from London Liverpool Street and the smaller towns of Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. Along with hourly services from East Midlands Trains which run services to Manchester Piccadilly, Liverpool Lime Street and Nottingham.
The main purpose of this visit was to capture the DRS 37 locomotives running the short set to Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth and luckily I was able to catch it in all its glory.
I hope you all enjoy watching this as much as I did filming it. My next film from be from another station that I've wanted to go to since I first started filming. I know you'll all approve of the station I have in mind but you'll have to wait till it gets uploaded to find out where ;)

Nice video Tornado922 Norwich now adays does seem to be alot quieter at times you may find class 66 bringing stone in dropping off at the side of the station, i used to spot here in the 80's Norwich had alot more track back then with track going near to the river wensum i used to stand at Thorpe Junction near the bridge used to be a good spot (and a great little fish and chip shop) lol. still is today now and then you will see the Harwich - North Walsham tanker train going round wensum curve.

Even if the weather isn't fantastic it can actually make for some enjoyable filming. Speaking from previous experiences where I've been filming in the rain you can get some great shots of the water streaking off the pantographs and off the bodies of the trains

Hi mate that was a good video from Norwich. Why do they run that short set of 37s DRS to great yarmouth and lowestoft .Is there s reason for this.you did say 1700 to liverpool street station. It was cold you should of had a beer mate.There's a new service with new trains on the GWR route at this favourite station of yours. Thanks very much, I'm glad you enjoyed this. They were using class 37's to cover for the lack of DMU's that they had because a large chunk of them were all getting repaired at the same time. So to keep the timetable operating their hired in some DRS loco's to work 'short' sets up and down the line

Yeah considering that they have 15 intercity sets I always found it bizarre that they would use a 12 car 321 set which isn't as comfortable nor does it have catering on board

The 37's are currently on loan because AGA don't have enough DMU sets to cope

I'd love to go there, especially since the Class 90 is my favourite electric loco. Do you know if the station has ticket barriers? Also, what exactly is the DRS set, a replacement service?

The station does have barriers unfortunately so I just bought a return ticket to Diss so I could get onto the platform. The DRS short set is used to help out the smaller DMU units that Abellio Greater Anglia use for their services to Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth. I've always found that the class 90 better suits freight traffic even though they were primarily built to haul express services across the country

There's an app called real time trains. Other times I look at the destination boards on the trains and the departure boards on the platforms
