Trains at: Southampton Central, SWML, 29/02/16

An absolutely fantastic afternoon spent at Southampton Central on the South Western Mainline, Wessex Mainline and West Coastway Line where we see plenty of services from SouthWest Trains, Southern, Great Western Railway, Cross Country and a freight train operated by DB Schenker.
This was a brilliant station to film at, I would have stayed here longer but I had to catch a train before my ticket lost it validity before the peak time began.
My next station is Leamington Spa on the Chiltern Mainline, I'm really looking forward to filming there again. There's always something good there.

The 158 going to Chandlers Ford is actually go to Romsey but they put up Chandlers Ford so not to confuse the train when it leaves sailsbury because it calls at Romsey on route to Southampton then loops round at Eastleigh to go back to Romsey via chandlers Ford.

Great video!! I'm looking forward to the HSTs going through this station soon!! Great Western r kindly planning on putting HSTs on the Cardiff central to Portsmouth Harbour line!! I think when great westerns class 800 goes on service they will send the HSTs which r doing the route the 800s route will be replacing. They will send them down to Portsmouth then!!

Great video! Southern need to give the Electrostars a fresh lick of paint. Same with SWTs Desiros however they should keep the livery as it is still modern and it's useful how they split their trains into 3 different colours so you know which are the Metro and Mainline and (etc)

This was my first time here and I can safely say I wasn't disappointed :) I've never been to Gloucester before, but forgive my ignorance but why would Gloucester be better during the tunnel closer?

+Tornado922 What normally happens when the Severn tunnel is closed trains to south wales are divert via Gloucester which means it a lot busier then normal. Also depending on what method of measuring Gloucester has the longest platform in the UK

Did network rail end up coming for the smoking signal point? Everytime I see a swt 444 or 450 it reminds me just how much better than southern they truly are, more spacious, more comfortable an hell of a lot more reliable

Why is the class 450 and 350 the same? Are there any differences?

They are the same train essentially. The only real difference is that the 450 runs off 3rd rail power whereas the 350 variants run off overhead wires via their pantograph. The interior design might be slightly different to cope with the different needs of the network that they run on but fundamentally they are the same train
