HI Tornado922!! Excellent video and I think the "up close" views afforded by the platform at St. Neots is an exceptional vantage point. Even though I have ridden numerous HST's it's certainly a thrill to see and HEAR them as they pass through. From the platform there's a certain majesty and dominance about their presence as they pass by that's remarkable and a completely different experience than being a passenger on board. Likewise, the 225's are an equally dominating presence, but more quiet with a sense of unspoken, unbridled muscular power. One of my early platform experiences with the "presence" of the HST's was whilst waiting for a train at Castle Cary. Though I knew and expected the rush and roar of the trailing power car about to pass by it was exhilarating and overwhelming. For a US rail fan it was definitely unexpected initially, but overall conveyed a sense of power, speed and respect. Rail travel in the UK is tremendously exciting!!! You're doing exceptional videos, Tornado922, and I completely appreciate the thought, time and work that you invest to produce these terrific, well-narrated scenes -- the next best to actually being on the platform with you!!! Cheers, Chip in Kansas City

The original HST power cars are always going to be the best in my opinion. The power cars these days have MTU engines built for them which is why they grumble. The East Midlands Trains HST sets have VP185 engines which enables them to scream like a proper HST from the good old days. The EMT power car at the rear of the train that passed me here sounded absolutely beautiful and even better when you hear her going down the line. I do like the 225 sets but I will always prefer the Class 43 HST. The first time I saw them was at Leighton Buzzard on the west coast main line in the 1990's in what has to be the best livery that I've seen them in. Well worth looking at if you get the chance. If you enjoyed this video then you'll definitely enjoy the next one I have ready to be uploaded. It's from an industrial estate just outside of Sandy on one of the footbridges. One of the best places to film from

***** Hi, I Googled the Class 43 HST livery from the early 1990's and found a photo on Wikipedia shot outbound at Penzance referred to as the "swallow livery" used from mid-1970's into the 1990's. It was a dark blue body with light gray undercarriage and a horizontal red stripe with large "Intercity" designation on the side of the power car. Did I find the right one to which you refer? It's beautiful!! Best wishes, Chip

One of them but the livery I prefer can be found on the Virgin Trains HST sets that ran along the West Coast Mainline
