Trains at the McGregor Road, Pakenam Level Crossing; Last Day Before Closure - Melbourne Transport

In this video we visit the McGregor Road level crossing, situated along the Pakenham Line in the outer south-eastern suburb of Pakenham. McGregor Road is one of three level crossings being removed in Pakenham, which is seeing a 2.5km section of the rail corridor elevated onto a Skyrail viaduct and building a new Pakenham station. The project will also see the Pakenham Line extended an additional 2km to a new terminus at East Pakeham.
Here we see some Metro High Capacity Metro Trains passing the level crossing on its last day of operation. McGregor Road along with the level crossings at Main Street and Racecourse and the old Pakenham Station, closed on the 17th May 2024. The elevated rail corridor along with the new Pakenham and East Pakenham stations will open on the 3rd June 2024.

Sad to see the level crossing go. Hopefully, when the new station is finished, can you film trains at the new Pakenham and east Pakenham stations with V/Line and Metro trains.

@@JTRAIN Yes they are, on older platforms you can get good shots by going to the other platform but on sky rail they have those stupid things inbetween tracks making it bad for filming trains
