In this video, I visit the freight hotspot in Kent, Tonbridge.
Tonbridge is a Southeastern station and has 4 platforms with 3 being in usage.
Station History: The first station on sight, which was 310 yards to the east, was opened in May 1842 by The South Eastern Railway. The station was known back then as Tunbridge until January 1852 when it was changed to Tunbridge Junction. The station would be relocated to the spot we see the station today in 1864. The station would have another name change but only a slight one from Tunbridge Junction to Tonbridge Junction, but finally it was in 1929 in July that the name we know today as being Tonbridge was given. The station three letter code is TON.
