Trains at: Warrington Bank Quay, WCML, 07/03/2020

An alright afternoon session spent at Warrington Bank Quay on the West Coast Mainline where we see plenty of services from Avanti West Coast, Northern, Transport for Wales and freight from DB Cargo UK.
The station was built in 1868 by the London and North Western Railway and for a long period of had two different platforms on two different levels, this had stayed in this fashion right up until 1965 when it was eventually reworked. Platforms 6 and 7 which were the low level platforms were on the St Helens Railway Line, the line now is still open but is only used for freight traffic to pass around the station if needed. When the West Coast Mainline was being constructed it was raised to pass over the West to East line.
The modern station has two different design features, the eastern platforms still have the 19th century buildings albeit maintained so they still have their charm and the western platform has a more modern station building dating from the 1950's. Because the station is located on a high level it means that access to the station is done through a street level entrance which consists of an information office and ticket office which then leads to a subway which will take you to which ever platform you need to catch your relavent service.
