Trains at Widney Manor 17/04/22

This video shows a selection of passenger trains at Widney Manor station, which lies on the Chiltern Mainline between Solihull and Leamington Spa. Seen in the video are a selection of Chiltern Class 168s and 68s, diverted CrossCountry Voyagers and a West Midlands Railway Class 172. The CrossCountry services were diverted away from their usual route via Coventry due to engineering work taking place. Enjoy!

This used to be a quiet rural 4-platform station, now (usually) a busy commuter station, surrounded by houses, with its large car park where the former relief lines used to be. Used to go trainspotting there in my youth; the station master, Mr Harvey, had a reputation of being an old misery but really he was quite chatty. How things have changed over the years!

@@ACETrainsUK You are correct. The quadrupling of the tracks was a job creating scheme in the 1930s. There has been talk of re-quadrupling, which would be impossible due to car parks having been built on the former trackbed at Widney Manor and Acocks Green.
