Here is some train footage shot in Southern California during the later days in September though about the 3rd week of October 2014. You'll find trains such as: Amtrak, Union Pacific & Metrolink.

0:59) Train #2 - Amtrak Pacific Surfliner #769, with F59PHI #461 in the lead, sporting a nice Third Gen. K5LA.

Train #1 - Same train chased to Anacapa St.
3:33) Train #2 - Union Pacific Freight train pulling over 120 flatbed cars !!! at Garden St.
6:55) Train #3 - Amtrak #1790 Amfleet cars, with F40PH #90208 in the lead.
8:20) Train #4 - Amtrak #11 Coast Starlight, with P42DC #88 in the lead.
10:13) Train #5 - Amtrak Pacific Surfliner #777, with F59PHI #459 in the lead. Awesome K5LA on this unit !!!

17:50) Train #4 - Amtrak Pacific Surfliner #580, with F59PHI #459 in the lead pulling an 8 car set, and F59PHI #457 trailing on the north end!

Great video of the Amtrak & other trains at Santa Barbara on my most favorite Amtrak routes which are the Pacific Surfliner & Coast Starlight. I recently rode round trip from San Diego to Oxnard on the Pacific Surfliner for the day, the ride was very enjoyable, relaxing and from here on when I'm in the San Diego area I will be riding the Pacific Surfliners to & from Los Angeles & Oxnard more often. I rode on Amtrak a total of 28 times since 1/31/1974. Amtrak is my first travel choice for long distance travel.

Nice catch on the pass of #11 and #777! It's nice to see a Surfliner run on the other set of rails in Santa Barbara. Last time I came down to Santa Barbara, all I saw run on those rails was a Union Pacific Truck! :)

Awesome video! It almost sounds like they took the horn off of 455 that it had for years and put it on 459. Also, that double set with 785 and 579 was crazy. With that P42 trying to supply HEP and push/pull that entire train, the engineer must have had the throttle in his lap the entire time.
