Trains in the Hunter Valley Part 16: Coal and Grain Trains at Ardglen, Parkville & Aberdeen- 29/9/22

Another video from the 29th of September 2022 taken on the trip back from Ardglen Bank to Muswellbrook, starting out with the final scene from Ardglen on this trip with NB932 Aurizon coal from Narrabri making the 1 in 40 climb to the summit before calling in at Parkville for three crosses in a row with BE512 being held for BE519, MB937 and 4515 empty QUBE grain to Willow Tree. We finish off at Aberdeen with SSR's 4547 empty grain from Carrington to Narrabri headed by a five loco combination of three RL's, the preserved 42103 and Bendigo-built BRM002.
Trains seen in order are:
NB932- 6028, 6004, 6010-5023 and 5045
BE512- 9212, 9305 and TT120
BE519- 9313, 9215 and TT05
MB937- 9308, 9026 and TT117
4515- CF4411, RL310 and CF4403
4547- RL307, RL305, RL301, 42103 and BRM002

For over 30 or so years they have talked and looked at a tunnel through Ardglen, bit like the Brisbane-Sydney-Melbourne fast train project, plenty of talk but little action. Chumster looking a little worn these days, getting a hammering out on hire, paying for the resto of the other 421 class probably. Nice work Brad from my old stomping ground.

Probably not worth doing the Ardglen tunnel as when the coal traffic inevitably finishes (be that several years away) the only stuff will be bulk grain and a few container trains through there. They seem happy enough to persist with the bankers for now which is good for the railfans! Chumster's a got a cruisy job now though on the AK cars, would anticipate it'll probably get some TLC when Chumsayer is released. Looking forward to seeing that one on the AK's at Dunolly...
