The ns Richmond line has had short trains recently and that worries me.
@VCUrailfan15productions4 жыл бұрын
The Richmond - Crewe local was spotted returning to RVA with nearly 100 cars last week so I’m not too worried

Great video! The Hospital St crossing is dangerous---that's a sharp curve. You should try to catch NS V08 at the Huguenot/Robious crossing sometime.
@VCUrailfan15productions6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I’m not too worried because trains go slow around the curve there. And maybe I will sometime, but it isn’t a great place to film. I’ll think about it though!

Does a lot of NS come through there at that Dock street location?
@VCUrailfan15productions5 жыл бұрын
Typically NS runs a train through there on weekday evenings to West Point, and the back. They also run that same train on Sunday during the day. You can sometimes see V28 taking cars through there to do some local switching. Overall, pretty rare but certainly not impossible to see
@daltonluffey5195 жыл бұрын
Yeah I got the feeling it wasn’t a super busy line. Thx!

CottonBeltSD40T browns island, and walk across that long pedestrian bridge across the river
@TheNWClassA12186 жыл бұрын
So you're saying it's accessible through Belle Isle? Cuz I've never found the way to (legally) get in.
@VCUrailfan15productions6 жыл бұрын
Look up the “T. Tyler Potterfield Memorial Bridge” on google maps. That’s the pedestrian bridge that you walk across. If you keep going down the path, you literally walk right by the NS tracks.

no problem btw what camera did you use for this, where did you get it from, and what settings did you have it on when you filmed this ? because i have a canon camcorder and am thinking of either making it a secondary camera or just simply retiring it because sure, it films good but it picks up glare, heat waves, wind noise, etc and that's an issue to me when i film or chase trains
@VCUrailfan15productions6 жыл бұрын
Yeah man, I use a Sony CX 240 to film. I got it almost 4 years ago at Best Buy. I reccomend any of the Sony CX handycams (much newer and better ones have come out.) it’s not the best camera but it sure is good. I really just used the base settings, 1080P 60FPS. Nothing special but it gets the job done. I’d say it’s worth a look

How do you know where the trains are going?
@VCUrailfan15productions5 жыл бұрын
Yeah so basically I bought a scanner. It’s essentially a radio that lets you hear what the engineers and dispatchers are saying. By keeping an ear on it, you can know exactly where and when stuff is about to pass!
