Yes indeed, but there's no longer intermodal service on the Columbus Subdivision anymore. The Columbus Sub was certainly different back then.

Well 3 hours of being in marion I have seen 11 or 12 trains. Someone in marion told me csx is getting less busy in fostoria

That is true. CSX has about 30-32 trains in Marion a day, and in Fostoria CSX has around 90-95 trains a day.

actually all together between both csx and ns in fostoria, there might be 120 trains a day I have heard

Used to live se of Marion, east of Columbus. Always went up to Marion. Left in 06 for Florida but was around for the east/west conrail trains. Also saw them move the tower to the south side of the tracks for refurbishing. Before that, a friend of mine and i were given a tour of the tower and saw the manual switch controls etc....right out of the history books!

They've done a great job refurbishing the tower, it looks as good as it did back in the day. All of the switches controls are still in good condition and in the tower, and even all of the switchboards/track diagrams are still in working operation! The spot itself is still pretty busy, 60-65 trains per day. Thanks for the comment!

Thank you! Yes indeed, the ex-Conrail caboose was a great catch, but they used to have an ex-Erie Lackawanna caboose in the yard that they would use for local trains, but I'm not sure what happened to it.

The train traffic here sees about 65 trains in about 24 hours, and a lot of them come in bunches.

Actually, it depends. In one hour you can see four trains, but in the next hour, you might see none at all.
