Considering some have been withdrawn since 2016 they could well be doing component recovery for all we know. But you never know what goes on at Toton. Lots of Class 60s lying idle that have been in use via DB and plenty of spares for them.

How old are they? They don't look that old......
@JimmysTransportMarvels14 күн бұрын
@markcf83 built 1999 to 2000. not that old.

EWS brought them for a royal mail contract which they then subsequently lost a short time after and made the small fleet redundant. They have an active engine fire protection system so they get used quite often on special passenger duties. They only have 4 Tm's compared to the 66 but are quite high geared so can do up to 125 as opposed to 60-75. Most of the 67 fleet is based at crewe but brought to toton for the use of the high lifiting cranes. Looks like it has either just had the alternator removed or refitted hard to tell from that angle. I think they have the Belmond 67 at toton as well at the moment for some reason. I think it is 67024

Your videos have been worth watching lately and seeing class 67030 even 60062 Sonia at toton hear in South Wales DB Class 66001 & DB 66653 named Barry Needham are at Margam T.C. on the steel working, old EWS livery 66158 and DB 66028 have also been seen in South Wales to. Now on Saturdays there a working from Margam T.C. to Eastleigh and it's usually 1, 2 even 4 Class 66 which could be interesting for anyone who needs numbers

Think some of those 60's have a better chance of resurrection than 67030....😄
@iancook203614 күн бұрын
Agreed plenty of spares for the ones that have been out of service from DB.
@Thornaby3713 күн бұрын
Realistically, I would say the chances of 67030 (or any of the other long term stored 67s) being reactivated are very slim
@RedShedNick13 күн бұрын
Sadly agree with you 026 what a crying shame Thornaby oh and think 011 has been the longest stored I think. Remember 67018 Maple Leaf Keith Heller well as standby loco for Chiltern back in 2013/14/15.

What’s gonna happen to 67030? Nice Paul Melleney 66172 pulling that, saw that in Margam T.C., 66019 was brill moving around and unfortunately inactive shed number 66145, how long has that been in store for?

Why havent the DB sheds been numbered 657 and 658, thought they may gone with the running order after 250, eg 251 and 252
@paulkeightley654514 күн бұрын
Because they are being regeared as 66/6s to move heavier loads at slower speeds. Same set up as Freightliner's fleet of 66/6s

I've not seen a 67 with it's lid off before. I fail to comprehend DB's retention on the class 60 scrap line. At one time, it made business sense (I guess), as EWS/DB would not want to sell the locos to smaller operators, as this would risk creating competition. But now, why not scrap them and boost its cashflow? Their asset value must have been fully deprecated by now. The only reason I see for retention is to provide spares for the few examples DB still has in use. But it seems a very inefficient way to store spare parts. 66789 always catches the eye. Are those shiny red 66s fresh from the washing station, or have they been through a major overhaul that included a re-paint? Thanks for sharing.

DB has offered a number of them for sale in the last couple years, but I think there’s so far been fewer takers than locomotives

I reckon 67030 is going in the bin. Sad to think really that a locomotive built in 1999/2000 has somehow ended up in this state
