It makes me feel old how old this movie looks. This film gave way for a major independent movement in the 90s and opened the doors for a new golden age of british cinema. I was 14 at the time.

After kicking a 6 year heavy, daily habit, 3 years ago, I will still take a wee bit a few times a year. One of the greatest messages of the Movie, among many, was that when chasing the high nothing else matters. About a month clean you realize how much crushing stress there is each and every day. That stress doesn't even exist when you are using daily. You don't realize how just plain boring AND stressful Life is until you kick a well entrenched long term Habit. There is a mourning process when you realize you are done using. I feel like a "dry drunk" who never REALLY attained sobriety and I'm nearly 60 years old. If you've never used, PLEASE don't. It's the greatest "Love/Hate" relationship in the friggin' World...

This is one of those rare instances where the film is better than the book.
@hungarianbeast4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't go that far. Both are excellent, the movie is tight and awesomely paced. While the book has a bit of fat in it, but I love those additional stories.
@ciarancassidy75664 жыл бұрын
I think the movie is better stylistically and as more of a cultural monolith. But I think the book does more interesting things with these characters fleshing them out a bit as far as motivation and internal life goes. They're both amazing.
@hungarianbeast4 жыл бұрын
@@ciarancassidy7566 I think the movie did an awesome job capturing the essence of the characters as described in the book. Mark is a bad person who knows is bad but want to change, Spud is a loser but kind hearted, Begbie is damaged (however the trainspotting scene was cut) and wants to make life miserable for everyone, Sick Boy is shady and selfish, yet also caring for certain individuals. Tommy Matty and Silver Medal was sort of combined into one, so he is the hardest to define imo. Still both are awesome (movie book) I even love the movie sequel, and the additional books.

Wow...a fan video that's actually fucking amazing. Good job! I was a wee bit too young to appreciate this movie when it came out...I was born in 83, but I still recall the aesthetic that was in the air in the mid 90s...it was a special time. So many new ideas and possibilities in music and art and film. This movie captures that. This song definitely captures that. The song just captures that moment in time so perfectly and makes me long for a time in history I only understood in a limited sense.

Not a druggie or anything but something about this movie. such a good plot pretty much how life is, you separate from a crew you come back with time etc. Plus I think I can thank this movie for never wanting to do anything hard like that. They need to make more movies like this, and maybe if people watch them they will think twice before doing hard drugs.

I have read the book. I've also taken drugs. I've also stopped taking drugs...certain drugs at least. Marijuana has brought so much positivity to my creative and spiritual life, so I'll continue that forever. As for the hard drugs...yeah, they are pretty brutal. But...there's also a lesson there. I don't regret what I did. I learned a LOT. I had wonderful experiences...and horrific experiences. All which taught me valuable lessons. I wouldn't trade that for anything.
