Great video! The 37/9 'slugs' always seem so quiet compared to the 'proper' 37s...

The ol' 14 gets a bit of a squirt on doesn't she?!!! Good to see 31 & 37 although the former seems to have a congestion problem and a rather nasty rattle!! Now I want to see into that yard, looks interesting🤔 Oh yes, I like your "stile"🙄 Thanks Matthew👍👍👍

the shot from 2:44 is me on the handle, the beauty of being a Diesel Hydraulic - once you're rolling, you can stick it on the stop at let it find its feet

@@adamwilliams725 Top man!!! So what is her rated speed and does a load make a difference, she seems more lively than the 08?

@@bobingram6912 the 14s were built to replace the panniers so were planned to be 60, but BR found them unstable, so they got limited to 40, so they're suited to Heritage Railway limits of up to 25. The engine is a Paxman 6YJXL, aka "Ventura" which is a turbocharged 40 Litre V6, the mark 3 version of the "Ventura" went on to be redesignated "Valenta" and the 12-cylinder variant went into the HSTs when built. The engine drives the torque converter (hydraulic fluid coupling) and the output of that goes into a 3-speed automatic gearbox. Rather than the 'Scalextric controls' of the 08, the 14 is a living breathing creature and she reacts differently depending on what the load is, gradient, weather conditions, temperature and driving style.

@@adamwilliams725 Thanks for the info.👍 I must admit to not having taken too much notice of the "lower" classes but am now beginning to appreciate them more. She sounds like the equivalent to an electric car but standard automatics were always a bit quicker with that continuous power output.
