Excellent information as always about speed and endurance training! That smoke got pretty bad even all the way over here too for a while. Thankfully it's mostly gone now.

I love your videos. They have completely changed my life on what it means to be a runner, and I never though that could happen. My one question is though in your book you discuss upper body and core exercises. I was wondering if you could elaborate on these exercises and why they are important for stable running. Thank you for these amazing resources

Great idea Ian and my plan is to save content like this for winter, when I can be inside for some videos. Thanks for watching and means a lot to hear they help, this really is the motivation to keep the videos coming.

Thanks for this, it's exactly what I've been thinking about lately! I haven't been fast since school (I'm 43), so I switched to ultras in late 2020. I'm so proud of myself, I never even thought I could run a marathon, much less 32 miles, but... I've slowed even more. At first I didn't care, but now I see the impact it has on training and racing. If I only have an hour to run during workdays, I'm only running about 4 miles, instead of 6-8 like faster runners. This means less mileage under my belt, and I'm always worried about cutoffs because of my slow pace. I had to drop from 33 miles to 22 at my first mountain race last weekend, because I KNEW there was no way I could complete the last lap in time. GUTTING. I do a lot of my winter running on the treadmill due to ice, do you have a video on treadmill speed workouts?

Right on, this made my day. I have a good video to send you and also be sure to check out my book. For $15 it has a wonderful foundational program for speeding into ultras, and lots more. Nice bang for your buck. Stay tuned for the video and am thinking of doing some virtual speed camps late this Fall/Winter.

Hi Eric, awesome content here. Beginner runner here. What speed target would you recommend for someone who wishes to train for their first ultra? Like would I be able to think that if I run at a speed of X, I am ready to train for ultras?

Excellent information as always, Eric. And nice Satisfy Running cap if I'm not mistaken. If you are just getting back into running, would you recommend establishing the 5-6x/week running habit (+ST exercises), at the pace outlined in TCI before adding speedwork? Thanks again!

Hey there. Great to hear from you as always and glad you enjoyed the format of the other video. I am all about frequency but of course it is always hard to answer this specifically to your situation. So I would try doing very short runs, as many days as you feel appropriate. 20-30 min. Maybe try this for 4-5 days a week and see how you respond. I would just keep whatever you do feeling good and not rush volume, miles or intensity until there is not question in your mind. And no, not a Satisfy cap, just one I found in Sweden.

Hey brother..I run in beach sand and I can't track my running distance so I focus on time..how can I do interval training based on time. Now I did 1mins ×6 reps at 1mins walk rest..how should improve it..increase reps or increase time..? For 5km race what interval should I follow(based on time)?
